When I go to remove a collabrator, it asks for the account password, however the account doesn’t have a password since I logged in through my google account… so there is no way to remove a collabrator?
Topic summary
-
Core issue: User cannot remove a collaborator because Shopify prompts for an account password, but the user signs in via Google and has no password set.
-
Recommended fix: Create a Shopify password first. In the Shopify admin, go to Manage Account > Security and set a password (screenshots were provided to illustrate the steps). This enables management of staff/collaborator accounts.
-
Important timing: After setting the new password, wait 30 minutes before attempting to delete the collaborator so the system recognizes the update.
-
Outcome/status: Clear procedure provided; no conflicting views. The path forward is to set a password, wait, then remove the collaborator. The discussion appears resolved pending user completion of these steps.
Hi @KB24,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community!
As Google is being used to access your account, you will need to set a password in order to remove any staff or collaborator accounts. To complete this, you can head over to the Manage Account section of the Shopify admin, where you will be prompted to select Security and create a password. For ease, I’ve shared a few screenshots below to help guide you!
Once a new password has been set, you will need to wait 30mins before attempting to delete the collaborator. This ensures the system has time to update and recognize the new password.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
