Review apps

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Loox Reviews for about a year, but now they’re asking me to pay more because I’ve reached a certain level of sales.

However, I don’t feel it’s a great app for my needs, since I only want to display reviews and send emails to customers after purchase to check how the product is going.

Is there any alternative app with a more affordable monthly price?

Thanks!

I think Judge. me could be what you’re looking for, or you can try TrustWILL

See search for the apps forums:
https://community.shopify.com/search?expanded=true&q=review%20apps%20cheap%20free%20%23shopify-apps

So the app does everything you do need and the app has helped you make MORE money with social proof but it’s not worth continuing to make that MORE money anymore???

Good problem to have that most new merchants would be jealous of.
Just do the is A > B math and pay for what works already

DIY alternative:

Reach out to me for services if you need to delegate to have any of the following setup for to have more ownership over your process and save ~$500 bucks a year.

If you want real cheap use shopify-forms that puts submissions into a metaobject, and burn time with the ai-assistant to generate a reviews section, some shopify-flow automations, or even generate an admin app to manage the process.
https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-admin/productivity-tools/sidekick/generate-apps

The main problem will be sending transactional emails , out of band*, as flow doesn’t let you send mail to arbitrary addresses and isn’t meant for that.
So either use shopify-mail, or an automation app like mechanic, sample scripts https://tasks.mechanic.dev/?q=review&tags=Email

*out of band meaning, more than a link in the initial order-created notifcation template or similar templates that shopify manages as part of the order life-cycle.

Judge.me is the move here. Free plan gives you unlimited review requests and review display, which sounds like exactly what you need. No cap on number of reviews either.

I’ve seen a lot of stores switch from Loox to Judge.me for the same reason. Loox is great if you really lean into photo and video reviews, but if you mainly want text reviews and automated email requests, Judge.me does that on the free tier.

One thing to watch during migration though. Make sure you export your existing Loox reviews first before uninstalling. Judge.me has an import tool that handles Loox CSV files, so you won’t lose what you’ve already collected. I’d do a test import first to make sure everything transfers clean.

How many reviews do you have right now on Loox? That might affect which import method works best.
