SEO strategy for landing page video reels

Topic summary

A user is building a product landing page with swipeable video reels featuring user reviews and wants to know how to optimize them for SEO, similar to how alt text works for images.

Responses provided two perspectives:

  • One suggests using video tracks for descriptions instead of alt text, which is image-specific, and offers further SEO consultation.

  • Another emphasizes that videos benefit SEO primarily through file size optimization and clear content presentation, rather than alt text. Recommends testing the videos on the page to ensure they don’t negatively impact page speed before pursuing additional optimizations.

Key takeaway: Unlike images, videos don’t use alt text for SEO. Focus on video file size, loading performance, and potentially video tracks/captions for accessibility and search optimization.

Hi!

I’m developing a landing page for my product and added several videos for that users can swipe through to watch user reviews. Wonder if there is any best practice to add some description for videos for SEO purpose (like alt text for static images).

Thanks!

Hi @JBshop1 ,

For SEO alt text is used for images, but in case of videos track is used for video description. if you want to do SEO of your store let me know.

thanks

Hi @JBshop1

If you mean the SEO for videos, as long as the video size is not too big, and is expressed clearly, it will be beneficial for SEO already. Concerning Alt text, it is mainly for image optimization. You can further check by uploading to the website page and see if affects page speed severely or not. If not, it is fine for you to do further optimizations.
