Six months ago, I hired a Shopify Expert to rebuild my website. They required payment upfront through Zelle. This expert had excellent reviews, so I thought this was a standard request. I was told that the rebuild would be completed in three weeks. Six months later, I have not seen anything. I’ve reached out to the expert several times, and all I get is that they are very sick and unable to perform the agreed tasks and have no money to reimburse me. They told me to ask my bank to reverse the charges. My bank said their Zelle account had been closed. I have also reached out to Shopify several times for assistance, and they have done very little. I’ve asked Shopify for the contact information of the expert as I feel my only option at this point is through the courts. Shopify will not release that information. I’m very disappointed in Shopify as I think they look out more for the best interests of their experts than they do for the shop owners. This whole thing has put me in a bind, as I still need my website rebuilt. Do I hope that this person will eventually get better and rebuild my website, or do I move on and consider it a loss?
