I was told on this forum that Shopify will stop trying to charge me after three attempts and just freeze the store until invoice is payed. I can’t pay my banks overdraft because the second I do Shopify will charge me and send me back into debt. Shopify has attempted to charge me EIGHT time now. Now I’m collecting more over draft fees because of this ridicules junk
Topic summary
A user reports being charged by Shopify eight times despite being told charges would stop after three attempts when a store is frozen for non-payment. Each charge attempt triggers additional overdraft fees from their bank, creating a cycle where they cannot pay off the overdraft without immediately being charged again by Shopify.
Suggested Solution:
- Contact Shopify support to request full store deactivation (not just freezing)
- Access support through the Shopify Help Center AI chatbot
- Continue the chat until “I still need help” or “chat with a support advisor” options appear
Current Status:
- The issue remains unresolved
- At least one other user reports experiencing the same problem
- The store is currently frozen but still technically active, which triggers ongoing charge attempts
Hi @Austinbork !
Since you are no longer using your Shopify store, you can reach out to Shopify support team and request for store deactivation. The reason why Shopify keeps on attempting to charge you is technically, your store is still active and just frozen due to unpaid balance so this way, your store will be deactivated which will make it inactive. You can reach out to them by going through their Shopify Help Center and enter your concern on AI chat box, respond to it until the “I still need help” or “chat with a support advisor” option appear.
I have had the EXACT SAME ISSUE, it’s clear i made no money or use with the subscription any how though i cannot contact them to fix this? thanks
