Issue: The Shopify app on an Android tablet shows a persistent “Sorry something went wrong (Execution Error) retry” message specifically when an open order loads; other parts of the app work fine.
Scope & context: Problem is tablet-specific. The Shopify app on an Android phone and access via Chrome browser both work without errors. No issues occurred for the past six months; the error began this past Friday.
Troubleshooting attempted:
Cleared cache for both Chrome and the Shopify app.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the Shopify app; logged out/in.
Performed a factory reset on the tablet to rule out a recent update.
Support status: Shopify support has been contacted but has not provided a solution yet.
Outcome: No resolution; the thread seeks further help. Key question remains the cause of the execution error triggered only on the tablet when loading the order view.
I am having a issue on the app when I am in an order and I get an “ Sorry something went wrong (Execution Error) retry” I dont have an issues on any other part of the app just when the open order loads.
This is happening on my Android Tablet. I’ve havent an issue in the last six months until this passing Friday.
The app functions on my Android phobe with an issue abd the Chrome browser works as well.
I’ve cleared cache on both Chrome and Shopify. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Log out and back on. Issue not fixed. I’ve also factory reset the tablet to see if it was an recent update.
I’ve have no success resolving this. I’ve contacted Shopify support with no solution so far.
Thanks for laying that out so clearly, that’s a frustrating one.
Since it only happens on the tablet app and not on your phone or in Chrome, that usually points to something specific to the Android app environment rather than your store or orders. When one screen fails but the rest works, it’s often tied to how the app is rendering or syncing that particular view after an update.
You’ve already done the right things with cache, reinstall, and even a reset, which rules out most local issues. At that point, it tends to be either:
• An app version bug on tablets
• Or something about how that device handles the order screen
When the error shows up, does it happen on every order, or only certain ones with specific items or tags?
It is very frustrating as it has been working with no issues up to last week. I would understand if it was a frequent issue that was going on fir the months I had been using it but its not.
I have shared the model with Shopify Support and even entered developer mode on the tablet to see if it was something back end. The tablet is updated.
Thanks for confirming; that detail helps a lot.
If it’s happening on every order and the screen partially loads but the top action bar (like the print icon) isn’t working, that usually points to a UI/rendering issue in the Android app itself, not your data. The fact that it only started recently also lines up with a recent app update affecting tablets.
In cases like this, the underlying order data is fine (since it works in Chrome and on your phone), but the app isn’t fully initializing that view on your tablet.
When you open an order, does the error appear immediately, or only when you try to tap the print icon?
If it happens immediately on opening an order and keeps looping, that strongly suggests the app is failing while loading order data, not timing out later. Since it’s repeating, the app is likely retrying the same request and hitting the same error each time.
This usually depends on something specific in the order payload or how the tablet app is rendering it.
Does it happen on every order, or only on newer ones created since Friday?
