With the Shopify POS Go hardware now just a end user display since the latest update. Is there any news from the Devs on allowing hardware owners to take off the shopify os, and have stock android on it?.. I.e. be a shame to let the barcode scanner unused ect… would be nice if they had stock android with all features intacted, such as tap to pay, chip and pin, barcode scanner to be used with the normal POS app or using 3rd party applications like square pos

I purchased a POS GO about 6 months ago. 2 days ago, I randomly received a POS GO that I did not order nor pay for.

i reached out Shopify Support & was told oh it was a free promo and now I have an extra….. or so I thought

Today, my employee sent me a picture of the POS GO screen & the screen read “

Your device has been disabled. Please recycle this device in accordance with local regulations.”

I speak with tech support again, and they are saying that they are foreseeing issues with the equipment so they are replacing them for certain clients. They told me to throw the old one out.

Huh? Throw it away? What a waste! Can these be jail broken because right now its useless.
