So many people try place a order but it says “Too Many Attempts”, How to resolve?
Hi @Johnny2
If your customers see a “Too Many Attempts” error, it’s usually Shopify’s security system blocking them.
Here’s how to fix it:
-
Go to Settings > Checkout and review the “Fraud Prevention” and “Abandoned Checkout” settings. Ensure your settings aren’t overly restrictive.
-
Ask your customers to clear browser cookies and cache (when they see this error).
-
Install apps like Google reCAPTCHA to reduce bot-like activity that may trigger this error. Shopify often already has bot detection but adding extra layers helps.
If it keeps happening, contact Shopify Support directly. They can look into it further and adjust settings if needed.
Hi Johnny @Johnny2
I’d recommend first checking your cart functionality in your theme settings and if that doesn’t work, you should clear the cache and cookies in your browser. Let me know if any of this works
can you provide your store link to check when the error occure
maybe it your payment method that have issues or another thing
Hi @Johnny2
The “Too Many Attempts” message typically appears when users repeatedly attempt to place an order, often triggered by one of the following reasons:
-
Rate Limiting: Shopify implements rate limits to prevent abuse. Too many failed order attempts in a short period can trigger this error.
Advise customers to wait a few minutes then retry
-
Browser Cache or Cookies: The issue might arise if old data is stuck in the browser.
Clear their cache and cookies and try again.
-
Payment Gateway Issues: If a payment fails multiple times, Shopify may temporarily block further attempts.
Contact the payment gateway provider to confirm if there are restrictions. Request to remove restrictions or add backup options
I hope this helps
Best regards,
Daisy
