Store closed by shopify. Unable to transfer balance.

I received an email from shopify indicating my store had been closed and has a balance. On researching, I found the only way to access that balance is to reactivate the store. 1) I shouldn’t have to spend $39 to access MY money and 2) even when trying to reactivate the store, I was unable to select a payment method to do so. I would like my funds made available. Please advise. Thanks.

Hello there @stowesails sorry for the tough situation you’re going through right now, honestly your best course of action would be to get in touch directly with Shopify customer support if you haven’t already. Also, what email address reached sent you the mail just for clarity? And what reason was given for closing the store?

Hey, @stowesails

First, let’s check who actually holds the money. If you were using Shopify Payments, then yes — Shopify is holding your balance and you’ll need to contact their support team to release the funds. But if you were using third-party payment service providers like PayPal, Stripe, or others, the money never touches Shopify — it goes directly to your account with that provider.

If you were using Shopify Payments, contact their support here: :backhand_index_pointing_right: https://help.shopify.com/en/support Let them know you can’t reactivate your store, but need access to your payout balance. If you were using third-party payment service providers like PayPal, Stripe, etc., log in to those accounts directly — the funds are probably already there.

Best,

Owen
