Store Feedback

Topic summary

A one-month-old handmade jewelry store is receiving decent traffic but struggling with conversions. The owner seeks feedback on improving sales performance.

Key Technical Issues Identified:

  • Severe performance problems: slow page load times (4-6 seconds), poor Core Web Vitals scores (CLS 0.7-1.6, should be <0.1)
  • Images loading slowly, particularly on product pages
  • Missing sticky/frozen navigation bar
  • Endless scrolling instead of “Load More” button causing user fatigue

SEO & Structure Concerns:

  • Homepage H1 tag is the logo rather than text content
  • Navigation bar poorly organized for search engine crawlers
  • No blog content for organic traffic opportunities
  • Product variants listed individually rather than grouped together

Conversion & Trust Elements Missing:

  • Weak homepage value proposition (“Browse our new arrivals” doesn’t convey uniqueness)
  • “Add to Cart” button doesn’t stand out visually
  • No product labels/badges (e.g., “Low Stock,” “Artist-Signed”)
  • Limited customer reviews and testimonials
  • Trust badges placed awkwardly at top of pages
  • Missing care instructions for handmade pieces
  • No FAQ page

Recommended Improvements:

  • Add tagline emphasizing “Authentic Native American Jewelry - Artist-Signed - One-of-a-Kind”
  • Implement loyalty/rewards program for repeat purchases
  • Consider retargeting campaigns for visitors who didn’t purchase
  • Optimize images (WebP format, compression, lazy-loading)
  • Add lifestyle photos showing jewelry being worn

Multiple respondents recommend specific apps for reviews, SEO optimization, speed improvements, and product labeling.

Thanks for much for your feedback!

By female image do you literally mean a female model wearing the product? :joy:

Hi @TurquoiseSunset ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.

Your store has quite enough essential information. However, if you want to make it more convertible, please check my recommendations below.

1. Freeze the menu bar

A sticky header makes it easier for users to find what they’re looking for and avoid having to scroll back to the top each time they want to navigate to a different website section.

2. Use ‘Load More’ Instead of Endless Scrolling

Endless scrolling can overwhelm users with too much information at once and make them tired. Besides, it can also lead to slower page loading times. Therefore, I highly recommend replacing the current scrolling to ‘Load more’ button like this example:

3. Add an FAQ page

An FAQ page serves multiple purposes such as improving customer experience, reducing customer support load and enhancing SEO.

I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a free live chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App. MooseDesk provides auto-reply features during non-business hours, a proactive help center, and a user-friendly widget layout, offering an effective solution to enhance customer support on your platform.

As an expert/enthusiast in UX, I recommend implementing these changes to improve customer experience when scrolling through your store.

Hello there @TurquoiseSunset Firstly, it took me a short while to finally load your page. Not sure if that’s just a location issue or if it’s something some other people have experienced when visiting your store before?

Secondly, in terms of additions to the actual store my two major suggestions would be to add a sticky header and add a FAQ page as a way of showing customers information that can help offer clarity and separate you from the crowd.

Hi @TurquoiseSunset

I have checked your store contents, and let me share with you three pieces of feedback which will be helpful for your store’s further optimization:

  1. The H1 tag on the homepage is not text content but the store logo, which is not good for store SEO and will make it hard to identify the main idea of your page content when displaying in search results. Changing your homepage H1 tag into text content like the main title, rather than a logo, is suggested.

  1. The navigation bar on homepage is not organized properly. For search engine bots like Google, it will be hard to identify the locations of your product pages and collection pages. By optimizing them into a clearer description, it will be beneficial for your store inner structures.

  1. The image on product pages take longer time than the images on homepage. You can consider using some techniques like lazy-loading or compressing image sizes into a proper one, so that it can load faster and have a better performance for users after accessing.

Moreover, apart from optimizations on store contents, the on-page SEO also matters here a lot. You can also use this tool to do a full test on the website, so that you can know which aspect meets SEO demands to boost your sales. By combining all details I shared together, your website will have more conversion in the future I believe! Thank you.

Congrats @TurquoiseSunset for building a beautiful store with a clear sense of craftsmanship! Your photography, earthy tones, and artist-signed pieces all come together to tell a story of genuine, handcrafted value :slightly_smiling_face:

From my POV, here are a few areas where some small changes could make a big difference in guiding visitors and spicing it up a little more:

- Homepage lacks a strong value hook: “Browse our new arrivals today” doesn’t clearly explain what makes your jewelry special, and new visitors may not connect with the brand or understand its uniqueness.

Fix: You can add a tagline like “Authentic Native American Jewelry - Artist-Signed- One-of-a-Kind” near the top.

- CTA button doesn’t stand out enough: On product pages, the CTA “Add to Cart” blends in with the rest of the content. A less visible CTA can lead to hesitation or missed conversions.

Fix: You can use a bolder color or larger button size to make the CTA action more noticeable.

- No labels/badges on collection and product pages: Items that are news to nearly sold-out aren’t labelled visually, therefore shoppers may overlook high-priority products or feel less urgency.

Fix: You can consider adding product labels/badges like “Low Stock” or “Signed by Artist” to highlight standout pieces.

To make the last fix simple, I’d love to recommend the DECO Product Labels and Badges app, which will let you create beautiful & custom labels/badges to guide new shoppers to the right items, especially important with such one-of-a-kind inventory!

Just let me know if you have any specific questions or assistance. Cheers! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @TurquoiseSunset , It’s Tracy here from BON, the essential solution of customer loyalty for Shopify businesses

I took a full tour around your website, and I have to say – it’s really lovely! The layout is simple, easy to navigate, and the images are crisp and responsive. Overall, it’s a great experience. Just a few small suggestions that could help take it to the next level:

1. Stroke text
You might consider switching from stroke to filled text. Filled text is generally easier for users to scan quickly, especially on mobile.

2. Product details
Since your pieces are handmade and unique, I think customers would appreciate care instructions. Adding this info can help build trust and encourage long-term use of the product.

3. Loading speed
Optimizing your image sizes can improve load times, especially for users with slower connections. It’s a small tweak that can make a big difference in user experience.

Those are just a few little thoughts – the rest of your site is already wonderful. Wishing you the best of luck!

Hi, I’m Wayne from Akohub. We have been working with many brands to run online stores. After viewing your website, I believe our expertise could add value to your business.

Your website is well designed and It’s clear you’ve put a lot of thought and care into both your product selection and the overall shopping experience of the site. Since you’re already seeing decent traffic but sales are slow, a powerful strategy to boost conversions is retargeting. Retargeting works by showing ads to audiences who have recently visited your website but didn’t make a purchase, reminding them of the pieces they viewed and encouraging them to return. By focusing your marketing on people who have already shown interest, you’re much more likely to turn browsers into buyers.

Another opportunity I noticed is that your site currently doesn’t feature a loyalty program or loyalty widget. Loyalty programs are an effective way to foster repeat purchases by offering rewards, exclusive perks, or points for orders. They not only encourage first-time buyers to return, but also help build a community of brand advocates who are more likely to share your store. Loyalty programs have been proven to increase customer retention, reduce the impact of seasonal sales dips, and even help convert first-time visitors by offering incentives like points redemption or free shipping at checkout.

To streamline both retargeting and loyalty program setup, I recommend exploring our Ako Marketing App, which makes it easy to launch retargeting campaigns across platforms like Facebook and Google, so you can re-engage visitors who showed interest in your jewelry but didn’t buy. It also offers the loyalty widget feature, allowing you to reward customers for purchases, referrals, reviews, and more-all directly from your Shopify admin. With the app you can nurture relationships, boost repeat business, and turn more of your site visitors into long-term customers.

Best wishes! If you have any more questions or need a free professional consultation, feel free to let us know! Don’t forget to like and mark it as a solution if you find this helpful.

Hi @Turquez , congratulations on launching your store! I took a look at your Google Page Insights , and there are a few performance-related issues that could be holding back your conversions—especially on mobile**.** Performance score is too slow as your our homepage hero banner is likely the LCP element. You can try the following steps to improve that :

1.Preloading the hero image

Your homepage hero banner is likely the largest content element, which is impacting your LCP score. To speed up its loading, try preloading the image:

2. Use WebP for Faster Load Times

Consider serving WebP images instead of JPG or PNG. WebP is a modern image format that provides better compression without sacrificing quality.

3. Optimize Render-Blocking Resources

I noticed that CSS and fonts are delaying the first paint. To resolve this:

  • Defer non-critical scripts by adding the defer attribute to
    • Use font-display: swap for custom fonts to ensure text is visible while the font loads:

    @font-face {

    font-family: ‘YourFont’;

    src: url(‘your-font.woff2’) format(‘woff2’);

    font-display: swap;

    }

    Alternate, If you’d prefer not to edit theme files manually you can try Website Speedy, a Shopify app that automates many of the optimizations you need, including improving LCP and other Core Web Vitals. It’s easy to set up, and it offers a 14-day free trial.

I have tested your website on Google PageSpeed Insights and found that the FCP score is worst. Here are the key steps you can take to fix it:

  1. Use Efficient Fonts
  • Limit font weights and families; use only what’s needed. Preloading essential fonts ensures they load faster. Add this to your :
  • Add font-display: swap to your web fonts:

@font-face {

font-family: ‘YourFont’;

src: url(‘YourFont.woff2’) format(‘woff2’);

font-display: swap;

}

  1. Reduce Third-Party Scripts

Remove or delay non-essential third-party scripts like chat widgets, trackers, or social embeds. Try to either remove them or defer their loading until after the critical content has loaded.

  1. Serve Static Assets Faster
  • Use fast-loading formats like WebP and compress all images.
  • For important elements like your hero image or logo, you can preload them to ensure they load faster:

After making these changes, I recommend rechecking your website’s performance using Google PageSpeed Insights.

If You not notice improvements in LCP, FCP and overall page speed we prefer you to use Website Speedy Shopify app that automates many of these optimizations, including improving performance score. It comes with a 14-day free trial.

Hi @TurquoiseSunset ! Your jewelry designs are beautiful and the store shows great attention to product presentation. However, there are some critical technical issues that are likely hurting your conversion rate despite good traffic.

Major Technical Problems:

  • Severe Performance Issues: Your site has extremely poor Core Web Vitals - CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) is 0.7-1.6 across pages when it should be under 0.1, and LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) on homepage is 4-6 seconds when it should be under 2.5s. These create a janky, slow experience that drives customers away.
  • Trust Badge Placement: Having trust badges at the very top of every page looks unprofessional and screams “trying too hard.” Trust elements work better integrated naturally into the design.
  • Product Organization: Your jewelry pieces are listed individually when related items (different variations of similar designs) could be grouped together for better SEO and easier browsing.
  • Missing Content Strategy: Without blog content about jewelry care, styling tips, or trends, you’re missing opportunities for organic traffic from customers researching jewelry purchases.

Immediate Fixes:

The performance issues are your biggest conversion killers - customers won’t wait 6 seconds for pages to load properly. Address the technical foundation first, then focus on content strategy.

Hi @TurquoiseSunset

I browsed TurquoiseSunsetJewelry.com, and here’s feedback in the polished, multi-section format you like — what’s working, what needs improvement, and suggestions to help get more conversions:

1. Build Trust & Credibility
The site has a lovely name and aesthetic, which helps. But I didn’t see many customer reviews or testimonials on product pages — adding those is essential for jewelry buyers.
Use trust badges (e.g. “Secure Checkout,” payment icons, “100% Satisfaction Guarantee”) near the “Add to Cart” area.

Customer reviews are visible but not very detailed—real photos, dates, or more personal reviews would reassure buyers.Customers are more likely to purchase when they trust the store. You should add product reviews using a tool like ShopReviews ‑ Product Reviews - ShopReviews - Boost your sales with product reviews | Shopify App Store, which makes collecting and displaying real customer feedback seamless..
en a few authentic reviews with photos would instantly increase credibility.
A strong About Us / Story section that explains your materials, craftsmanship, brand values (e.g. responsible sourcing of gemstones) would help people connect.

2. Hero Section & Storytelling
The homepage could benefit from a striking hero banner that tells visitors what you sell & why — e.g. “Handmade Gemstone Jewelry — Crafted with Heart & Integrity.”
Beneath the hero, a short introduction to your brand’s mission or unique angle (turquoise heritage, artisan techniques, etc.) would strengthen the emotional draw.
Place a call to action (e.g. “Shop Collections”) right in that banner so visitors know where to go next.

3. Navigation & CTAs
Your navigation should clearly highlight key categories — e.g., Necklaces, Rings, Earrings, Collections, Bestsellers.
Add bold CTAs in strategic spots (“Shop Now”, “Featured Collection”) to guide action, not just display products.
Use a sticky navigation or “Back to Top” buttons for easier experience, especially on long pages.

4. Product Pages & Conversion Triggers
Ensure you have multiple high-quality images per product (close-ups, model shots, different angles).
Descriptions should include not just materials and size but also benefits / stories — e.g. healing properties of turquoise, gemstone meaning, care instructions.
Use urgency cues: “Only X left”, “Limited edition.”
Highlight perks like free shipping, return policy, or gift wrapping near “Add to Cart”.

5. Technical & UX Polish
Check mobile responsiveness thoroughly: buttons should be large, images should scale, navigation should remain clear.
Optimize image sizes and lazy-load if possible to reduce page load time.
Ensure your product pages load quickly; slow pages are often why people leave before buying.
Use consistent branding—fonts, colors, spacing—to make the experience feel cohesive and professional.

If you’re also selling on Etsy, consider using an app like Etsy Integration ‑ ShopList - ShopList - seamless integration between Shopify and Etsy | Shopify App Store . It lets you sync your products and orders between Shopify and Etsy automatically, saving time and helping you manage inventory more efficiently—perfect for handmade or customized products like yours.

Best Regards,

@TurquoiseSunset Your store looks really good, especially for being only a month old! To get more sales, try adding photos of the jewelry being worn, show more customer reviews, and add trust badges near the buy button. A small discount pop-up or “low stock” message can also push visitors to buy. Posting simple blogs about turquoise or Native jewelry can help bring more visitors from Google too.
