Suggested title: How Can Customers Find My Collections? And Which Albums Should I Add?

Hi everyone!

I recently opened my online vinyl record store, Alia’s Vinyl Frontier, and I would really appreciate some feedback.

How can customers access and browse the different collections on my Shopify store when they visit the site? I have collections organized by genre, mood, artist, and theme, but I’m unsure whether visitors can easily find them. Should I add a “Shop by Collection” section to my homepage, include every collection in the main navigation menu, or create a separate page that displays all of them?

I would also love suggestions for albums and artists I should add next! Which records do you think are essential for a new vinyl store? I’m especially interested in popular albums that customers are actively looking for, along with classic rock, pop, country, Christian music, soundtracks, children’s albums, boy bands, and hidden gems.

If you have a moment, please take a look at my store and let me know:

• Are my collections easy to find?
• Is the navigation clear?
• Which albums or artists am I missing?
• What would make you feel more comfortable purchasing from a new record store?

Thank you for any constructive advice! I’m still building and improving the store, and I truly appreciate the help.

Hi @aliasmith , don’t worry, I’m in your space today.:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Just provide us with your site password.

Thank you

I turned off the password protection.

You should be able to open it now

@aliasmith ,

I will do that in few moment from now.

@aliasmith

That store is password-protected, and I can’t get past the login page to review it. Could you share the store password so I can take a proper look

Two things, and nobody has answered your actual question yet.

First, the store is password protected again right now, it redirects to /password. That’s why people keep asking. Turn it off in Online Store > Preferences > Password protection, uncheck “Restrict access”. Please don’t post the store password in the thread, once it’s off anyone can review it.

Now the real answer: creating a collection does not put it anywhere customers can see. Collections only exist at their URL until you link them. Three places to fix that.

Online Store > Navigation > Main menu > Add menu item, name it Shop, then add nested items under it for Genre, Mood, Artist, New Arrivals, Best Sellers, and link each to the matching collection. Be Yours supports dropdown and mega menus, so the nesting will render as a proper menu.

On the homepage, add a Collection list section in the theme editor and pick 6 to 8 collections with images. That gets people one click into a collection without touching the nav.

Add one menu item pointing to /collections, labelled Shop All. That page auto-lists every collection you have, but no shopper will guess the URL on their own.

One caution: don’t put all four of your category types in the top level of the nav, it gets crowded fast. Pick Genre as the primary way in, since that’s how most people shop vinyl, and keep Mood and Theme as secondary links or filters.
