Store termination

Hello, I created my website and after I got my firsts sales yesterday my store got terminated. I didn’t receive a specific reason, the email said:

"We have terminated ----- due to activity that is not, or that we suspect is not, a legitimate commerce practice. This type of activity damages consumer trust and is a violation of Shopify’s TOS. As a result, we will no longer host – on Shopify and your account has been closed. The full amount of your store’s pending payouts are typically held for 365 days by the processor.

If you believe this decision was made in error, you can submit an appeal. This will initiate a review process to determine if your store can be reinstated.

How the appeal process works

  • Submit your appeal with the required documentation

  • We will review your appeal and may request additional information if needed

  • We will reach out to you via email to let you know the outcome of your appeal

Ticket ID: cf3abc08-f740-419e-8d93-f0fed75d629a ".

This happened after I imported my reviews from my etsy store using an app from shopify. Rather than that, I do not know why our account may have been terminated. I submitted the appeal and still haven’t receive a response. Could anyone help me? My ticket ID is above this.

Hi there @groupnys have you been able to get in touch with a Shopify customer support specialist yet? Alternatively, you can also reach out to the Shopify support Twitter page and show them your Ticket ID as well as any other relevant details that could be of help.

I sell home decoration products

No one here can help you take care of your account issues. This is a public forum.

That said, I will add that in today’s Shopify environment, where people can have fake reviews, fake products, dropship and mislead the customer (all allowed and perfectly acceptable in Shopify’s view), it seems incredibly hard to get canned. You really have to do some serious violations. Cannabis is allowed. Alcohol is allowed. Sex toys are apparently allowed. So unless it’s a mistake, you got some splainin to do.

Using ®️ can land you in hot water. Taking another business’ name or logo. Using product images that clearly aren’t licensed to you. Too many charge-backs. The list goes on and on. No one could possibly know what it is except you and Shopify. Getting sales right away isn’t inherently bad but it raises a red flag. Especially if it’s a lot or a big amount. Because under normal circumstances, no one even knows your site exists. And that could lead to a fraud suspicion.

Thank you for your reply.
However i’m using shopify since 2018, and this is happening quite a lot for nothing those last years.
I’m selling high ticket decoration, no copyright issues, and im not getting sales directly.
I got a stores a year ago that got too many chargebacks because of my partner, maybe they are linking this shop to the old one ?
It’s becoming hard to sell on shopify.

Yep that definitely could be the reason.

There are other platforms. Shopify isn’t the god of ecommerce.

Hi @groupnys

Such terminations are often prompted by automated risk scans after the initial orders. Reviews are imported, the products are sourced, or the business information does not match – all this can cause the shop to be flagged. Write a clear and concise appeal with your supplier invoices, your fulfillment process, examples with tracking, your refund policy, and the proof that your Etsy reviews are coming from real orders. Better documentation generally enhances the probability of reinstatement.
