The facebook and instagram accounts I am trying to connect to Shopify are “ineligible” why is this?

Hello,

There are some troubleshooting steps to go through to ensure your account connected. As a starting point, we’ll need to ensure that your business is based in a country that’s supported by Instagram. These countries are outlined here.

If you’re located in a supported country, then your business also needs to meet these requirements:

More information on these requirements can be found here.

Once you’ve confirmed that your store meets the above guidelines, make sure to follow these steps to try and reconnect your Instagram account to your Shopify admin. If you encounter any issues during this process, or if you receive any error messages, please reply back to me here with more details and I’ll be glad to provide more assistance.

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi, @JT1990 !

Welcome to Shopify Community!

We appreciate you reaching out for support, and will provide whatever information we can to help you resolve this. A very special thank you to, @ReturnPrime , for their incredibly detailed reply. That information is exactly what you need, and I recommend going through each of their bullet points to ensure you meet each requirement. These and a few other requirements are listed on our help documentation, that you may review at the Facebook Shop requirements link.

If at that point you find your store is incorrectly showing it is ineligible, then you must connect with Facebook’s support team directly for a manual review. It’s not uncommon for stores to get flagged in their review process by their algorithm, that otherwise meet all requirements.

To get in touch with Facebook Support in Commerce Manager, review the instructions at this Facebook link. There you will find the following steps:

I trust this gives you the information you need, but don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have further questions.

Warm regards,

Thank you for the replies! Here are the specific problems I am facing:

  1. When I try to setup the Shopify Facebook sales channel by connecting my personal Facebook account “(Joanna Tschu - which I am an admin of Elizabeth Dow Home Facebook page and @elizabethdowhome Instagram page) then the Facebook and instagram accounts are showing as “ineligible” options when I try to connect them toShopify’s Facebook sales channel and I am not able to follow steps to publish products to those accounts.

  2. When I try with my alternative Facebook account called “Elizabeth Dowadmin” which also has a business manager account and is an admin for Elizabeth Dow Home FB page and @elizabethdowhome instagram page, the Elizabeth Dow Home and @elizabethdowhome profiles aren’t even showing up as options to connect to Shopify like they did when I connected my personal account “Joanna Tschu” (see point 1) even though Elizabeth Dowadmin is an admin of both those pages just like my personal Joanna Tschu profile is an admin of both of those pages. However, in this scenario, I am able to follow steps to connect the sales channel to Facebook, but product catalogs are not publishing to the intended Facebook or instagram pages as far as I can see because I am still not able to check out.

  3. Additionally, on instagram, there are currently Shopable product links, but when you click on one there is no “buy now” option and no checkout process. Only a “view on website” button and the link is broken. It just takes you to a “cannot load page” error. So the link to the shopify checkout flow via the website it broken. But it does appear shopify inventory has at some point been linked to instagram at some point, apparently via the website - not directly through the fabebook sales channel in Shopify.

Please look into the Elizabeth Dow Home Facebook page and the connected Instagram account @elizabethdowhome and advise on most efficient way to connect these sales platforms to the shopify inventory for checkout either through the website OR through the social media channels themselves.

Our goal is to be able to sell our products directly to customers through Facebook and instagram, and to advertise individual products that when clicked on can be purchased on the spot. Whether the checkout flow is through instagram/facebook shops OR through the website it doesn’t really matter at the moment. But both require that they are connected to the Shopify inventory in some way so that we can manage inventory all in once page. We don’t want to create separate Facebook and instagram stores, for example. We want all inventory to be managed through shopify. We want the most efficient solution please.

Thank you for your detailed response, @JT1990 .
