Theme app extension - deep link has stopped working

Hey! Our extension deep link has stopped working.

We redirect users to the theme editor via a deep link to enable the embed app. The problem is the deep link has stopped working, and the error occurs “App embed does not exist”.

I double checked if the generated link is correct, and it seems all is fine:

https://{storeName}.myshopify.com/admin/themes/current/editor?context=apps&activateAppId={extensionId}/app-embed

I’m 100% sure that the extension ID is correct. The same deep link was working without any problems in the past.

Any idea what is the problem?

I have the exact same problem and I have not been able to fix it - before I fugure out how to do it I just let the deep link go to the app embed section and leave out the activateAppId part. But that is not a good solution…

It seems Shopify fixed the issue. Now deep link works correctly.

I have same issue. if you can help on the same

Shopify definitely hasn’t resolved the issue yet, at least not in my case. I think this problem has to do with the default language setting of the store. If its ‘English’, it’s no problem, but if its another language, ‘Japanese’ for example, the deep links do not work and it gives this error or the ‘xyz’ block could not be added error.

In my case, we needed to make sure we were using the full liquid file name
