A Shopify store owner reports that their TikTok pixel isn’t tracking any events—neither the TikTok Pixel Helper browser extension nor the test events function detect the pixel code. Reinstalling the TikTok native app and creating a new pixel didn’t resolve the issue.
Proposed Solutions:
One responder suggests setting up tracking through Google Tag Manager (GTM) instead of the native app, citing better data accuracy and support for both client-side and server-side tracking
Another provides a detailed troubleshooting checklist: verify pixel code installation in theme files, use TikTok Pixel Helper, check event configuration in TikTok Ads Manager, disable cache/ad blockers, test with TikTok’s Test Events Tool, check for app conflicts, and contact TikTok support if needed
Additional Context:
The TikTok/Shopify native app isn’t available in some regions (e.g., South Africa)
My tiktok pixel will not track. No events show up on my pixel dashboard and “tiktok pixel helper” also seems to not find any pixel code on any page of my shop. When i try the tiktok test events function, there are also no events showing up. I also have tried to disconnect the pixel in the tiktok shopify native app and reinstalling the app and create a new pixel, but this also did not work.
As you are struggling to track the conversions with tiktok Shopify native App there is nothing much to do since it works automatically and followthing their own algorithm.
IF you are desperate to setup the conversion tracking for tiktok pixel I would rather suggest you to setup through Google Tag Manager. Google Tag Manager enables configuring server-side tracking with first-party domains and ensures optimum data accuracy.
You can track all kinds of e-commerce events with dynamic value both from the client/browser and server side.
Are you able to share any resources for setting up through GTM as the set up process has changed due to updates on Shopifys side as of recent. They’re removing additional scripts which I would have ordinarily placed the code in. Additionally, TikTok/Shopify Native app is not available in countries like South Africa…
If your TikTok Pixel is not tracking, follow these steps:
1-Ensure Pixel Code is Installed:
Verify that the TikTok Pixel is correctly installed on your Shopify store. Go to Online Store > Themes > Edit Code, and check for the pixel code in the section of your website.
2-Reinstall via TikTok for Shopify:
Go to Shopify Admin > Apps > TikTok, disconnect the pixel, then reconnect it. Ensure you follow all steps for integration.
3-Check TikTok Pixel Helper:
Use the TikTok Pixel Helper browser extension to confirm the pixel is loading correctly on your site. If it doesn’t detect the pixel, installation might be incomplete.
4-Verify Events Setup:
Log in to TikTok Ads Manager, go to Assets > Events, and ensure the events (Page View, Add to Cart, Purchase) are correctly set up and mapped.
5-Disable Cache or Ad Blockers:
Clear your browser cache and disable any ad blockers or browser extensions that might block pixel tracking.
6-Debug with Test Events:
Use TikTok’s Test Events Tool to verify that events trigger correctly when interacting with your website.
7-Check for App Conflicts:
Ensure no other third-party apps are interfering with the TikTok Pixel’s functionality.
8-Contact TikTok Support:
If none of the above works, contact TikTok support for further assistance. Provide screenshots and detailed descriptions of the issue.
