Shopify Just terminated our store for no reason (section 4.4), we just launched and we already had ordres on the first day. We can’t let our clients down !
We think there’s a problem and we would like to appeal the decision for the following reason:
We have reviewed the terms and our store does comply with the section 4.4 of the Shopify Terms of Service since we are an established brand selling skincare products with a built community from social media which enabled us to get orders from the day of our launch.
Can we please get a direct contact to discuss this as we are confident it is just a mistake: we have been using Shopify for our other brands but never encountered a problem like this.
Did Shopify specify what the violations are? Are they correct? If there is a way to correct the violations without interfering in your ability to operate your business have you done so?
Hi,
Thank you for your response.
Here’s our website Address : beautheskin.me
They dind’t tell us why, They just sent us this :
After reviewing your information and website , we have determined that you are in violation of Section 4.4 of the Shopify Terms of Service and we are therefore unable to support your business. We are terminating your account in accordance with our right in Section 14.3.
They are wrong, we have an established skincare brand and dind’t violate anything.
Can you please find a solution ? it’s really a huge Problem for us ! and time is running !
We have very successful brands on Shopify, but after this, we are really thinking about switching to somewhere else !
They just shut it down, no notice, no time to tell your thousands of clients you struggled to get for months ! That’s really shocking !
@BTHEAM , let me clarify that I am a shop owner. I do not represent Shopify. That being said, I will throw out my ideas and suggestions:
Shopify Terms of Service
4.4 You may not use the Shopify Services for any illegal or unauthorized purpose nor may you, in the use of the Service, violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws), the laws applicable to you in your customer’s jurisdiction, or the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario. You will comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations (including but not limited to obtaining and complying with the requirements of any license or permit that may be necessary to operate your store or that may be held by you) in your use of the Service and your performance of obligations under the Terms of Service.
I would contact support to seek specifics of the actual violations of the Terms of Service: login
Do you have the proper business licensing and permits?
3.Are you certain there is to another brand name out there like yours?
Does your product contain any ingredients that may be illegal in your area any of the countries you sell in?
4.4 is very specific and limited - meaning it should be easy to narrow down what the violation is.I would start here. Contact support to try and find out the specifics of your case. In the meantime, check the list. Check the requirements in your area and be sure you did not miss a step. Start with insuring you have the proper licenses and permits and move on from there.
my stores also close according to this problem any can help me

We are currently having the same issue with our shop, got the exact same mail… they could at least give us a chance to fix the issue before closing down what gives us bread on the table… either give us a heads up or remove the thing that it is regarding or at least give us a specific explaination and manual for how to fix it.
i am furious!
And it is impossible to find a number for customer support even tho we’re bleeding money and followers on social media.
not even able to put up an explaination message for our customers when searching for us.
A Big site as Shopify can’t be this unstable. That is just not the Way to run a business.
But i Can see that your website is up and running again? How did you fix this issue? I cannot even access my website to mage changes.
Absolutely appalling by shopify, they have done the same to my account which I had just opened and put through one £100 transaction with own card to test it. No explanation, no effort to contact you for clarification and no effort to refund my funds. I won’t be using shopify again I don’t think.
Yip, account closed. Their customer service is appalling. I just received follow up communications stating they deem my account high risk and have closed it and that the funds will only be released after 120 days. No explanation as to why it’s high risk and then they hold the funds for 120 days. It is madness. All this after I only set up an account to test it and processed one transaction with my own card. Don’t go near shopify, what these guys do is borderline criminal.
Sorry to hear, they are shocking. Shopify never assisted and their
responses offered no solutions - pretty much just generic replies.
In the end I requested a chargeback on my credit card - Amex got the money
back for me as I had processed a test transaction with my own card. Good
luck.
it also hit us and that for BlackFriday. There is no feedback from the “specialist department” and no way of finding out why. It’s just really annoying. We are left out in the rain with no information or opportunity to comment on the allegations. Have any of you made any progress? Shopify’s chat support isn’t much help here.
