Verify shopify account with Google Business Manager

I am trying to verify my shopify account with google site verification and claim the website.

I have added the below code where i believe it should be added.

However i receive the below error message.

No HTML tag found on your online store. Please make sure that the tag has been placed correctly on your online store or try a different verification method.

I am using the craft theme, please let me know what i am doing wrong, thanks.

I believe i may have corrected the issue. As i am a new store not currently trading the site was password protected. As soon as i temporarily removed the password, Google Merchant Centre verified and claimed the site.
