Hey everyone. I started my first-ever e-commerce store 3 days ago. My ads got really good CTR (30% for campaign average) on Tik Tok, but out of the 1500 people that visited my website the past days, only 9 added to cart. 0 sales… I’m really puzzled as to what I am doing wrong. Is my website bad? Are my ads bad? If so, how are they getting so many clicks? I really want to succeed in e-commerce, but I’m working by myself and have no idea what the next step forward is. I would really love some help please. My website: earely.com
Topic summary
A first-time e-commerce store owner is experiencing a puzzling disconnect: TikTok ads are generating an exceptional 30% CTR with 1,500 website visitors over 3 days, yet only 9 people added items to cart and zero purchases were made.
Community feedback identifies several issues:
- Product positioning: The main product should appear immediately upon landing, rather than below other content
- Product page problems: The form layout is suboptimal (add-to-cart button separated from color/quantity selectors), dropdown menus hide options, and technical specifications are missing or poorly organized
- Trust signals: Review stars show “5000+ reviews” that aren’t from actual customers and lack a review submission system, making them appear inauthentic
- Visual presentation: Product photos need higher quality images showing real-world usage; current images don’t engage visitors to explore further
- Copy issues: The “About Us” section reads as insincere, and product descriptions lack proper formatting with benefits highlighted
- Mobile usability: The popup cannot be closed on mobile devices
Consensus: The store foundation is solid, but the main issue likely stems from targeting/audience rather than the website itself, though the identified improvements could significantly boost conversion rates. The $9 AliExpress price versus the store’s pricing may also be a barrier.
I’m not a professional but I think some few things that could help is your product should be the first thing people see when the go to your website. I would put all the stuff you have above the product below it or on the product page its self. It also helps to have my visuals like gifs and less description. I think it is pretty agreeable that 90% of us don’t read descriptions. Good Luck!
So I keep everything else, just put the product at the top? I got rid of the description, you’re right it doesn’t look too good.
Hello there @earely I had a good look at your store and honestly, I saw most of the things I was looking out to see which means the store itself is well thought out and has been worked on properly. I don’t believe the store here is the issue. I think the main problem may be with the target audience in question. For that reason, I suggest maybe running ads on another social media platform targeted at a more responsive age range and maybe also put some more effort into e-mail marketing as well.
It looks great but one more thing i noticed was the pop up. I think this is more of a preference but personally i don’t like it. Also i am unable to close out of the popup when i view it on my phone. Maybe add a x in the top right to close it.
Hi @earely
Welcome to the community and congratulations on starting your first-ever store.
You did a good job of setting up everything, theme looks good. One piece of advice at the start is to have patience and to keep working on-site and
I am sure sales will come.
Think ads are good but you need at least one more video in that section, just 3 look a bit off, or just center those 3.
I think the main problem could be a lack of product information. Yes, you have some on images but it would be better to have them is separate sections.
Your product page is good but check this
https://themes.shopify.com/themes/impact/styles/sound/preview
For example, you do not have a table with technical specifications, how good the camera is, charging times and how long it last one charge. And you do have all that info. It can only improve the overall look. Also " what is inside" I could guess from the image what is the difference between set 1 and set 2. But it would be better to have that in text to be precise.
One issue I see is the product form, it is not presented optimally. You first have an Add to cart button then some content and then the color dropdown and after that a really wide quantity input. All that is not good practice. Think maybe to change that. For example, I would have one option in variants, to be a switch with “Basic Set” and “Extended Set”. Below would add colors with squares or circles with actual color and after that in one line small Quantity input and Add to cart form. That way all is in one place, close. Dropdown with all options is a not good practice because you are hiding all other options initially.
Also that, Only 10 left is a bit worrying, that could sell fast.
One of the reasons people are not buying could be the price. I did find, maybe your supplier, on AliExpress, has a sale currently and it is $9 but you do have to some profit, I understand.
Personally, I do not like that you have review stars, reviews, and also message “5000+” reviews. Those are not ones left on your site but maybe from the supplier. Plus you do not have a way for customers to leave reviews. So that part looks a bit fake. Also “About us” sounds so fake “we knew we could do better. That’s how the Earely Smart Ear Cleaner was created.” “At Earely, our mission is to help you take care of your ears with confidence.” It is like some politician. It sounds like you invented it and are on a mission, but really you just want to sell some niche product and earn some money. Which is all fine but that text text does not sound sincere.
Good luck.
To add on to what he said you can take a look at this page to see examples of visuals and a FAQ section on this page. https://axiongear.store/products/1-32-scale-alloy-metal-sports-car-model-3d-racing-car-simulation-photo-frame-for-decoration-and-gifts
i have some suggestions to offer (I checked your website personally):
- your product detail pages can be better. for example, i checked the “Earely Smart Cleaner” page. i felt that product photographs can improve a lot. you can go with higher quality, better images, that are clicked in real surroundings (or situations.) and are being shown in action.
currently, i was not intrigued to scroll further or explore the product further.
-
then, you can have better product descriptions as well. currently, i am not seeing the benefits, etc., being highlighted well at the top. you can use bullets, and proper formatting to write seo-rich exceptional descriptions.
-
i saw at a few instances, that web-copywriting (language used on your website) can also improve a lot. it can be engaging, and prompt the reader to take some action.
-
work more on the interactive elements. for eg. the header used on your website regarding, ‘save big now + 30 day guarantee’ is static and didn’t lead me to any page. you can add a product offer/deal there, and add its link.
this is constructive feedback as a friend : )
hope it helps : )
