Website Design Feedback

Topic summary

A dropshipping store owner is experiencing inconsistent sales for an ultrasonic anti-dog barking device despite strong Pinterest ad performance (2%+ CTR). Traffic is high, but visitors aren’t converting—suggesting a disconnect between ad expectations and the product page experience.

Main Issues Identified:

  • Product page design: Cluttered layout, low-quality images, and lack of trust signals
  • Product descriptions: Too generic, focused on features rather than emotional benefits and pain point solutions
  • Homepage structure: Disorganized with excessive product listings instead of clear brand identity
  • Trust elements: Insufficient social proof, reviews displayed poorly, missing guarantees and security badges
  • Mobile optimization: Potential loading speed and responsiveness issues (most Pinterest users browse mobile)

Recommended Solutions:

  • Use high-resolution images and demonstration videos showing the device in action
  • Rewrite copy to emphasize benefits (“Stop Barking Instantly”) over technical features
  • Add urgency elements (limited stock, time-sensitive discounts)
  • Streamline checkout process and implement cart abandonment campaigns
  • Relocate trust badges strategically and showcase customer reviews with photos
  • Consider A/B testing and behavior analysis tools (Hotjar) to identify drop-off points
  • Test alternative ad channels (Meta, TikTok) beyond Pinterest

The discussion remains open with multiple contributors offering design feedback and app recommendations for live chat support and loyalty programs.

I have a dropshipping store in the pet niche and for the past month I have been running ads on Pinterest for this particular product: Ultrasonic Anti Dog Barking Device

Although I have had a few sales running ads on Pinterest, and on some days having conversion rates of over 2%, the sales so far have been very inconsistent. There have been many days where I would face the issue of having tons of traffic/ website visits and absolutely no sales or add to carts.

I feel like the product I am testing Ultrasonic Anti Dog Barking Device has alot of potential and have done my best to make improvements and optimisations to the landing page, however I am still facing the same issue of inconsistent sales.

What I find very frustrating and ironic about this issue is that the ads I am running on Pinterest for this particular product Ultrasonic Anti Dog Barking Device consistently perform well with CTR’s well over 2%. People seem to be very interested in clicking on my ads for this product however as soon as they land on the product page they have no remote interest in buying the product which I find is very puzzling.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could please explain what conversion issues are on this product page: Ultrasonic Anti Dog Barking Device that is preventing people from buying.

Are there any store design issues are potentially putting people off from buying.

Hi @Daniel963 ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community! I’m Mia from MooseDesk , your go-to Live Chat, WhatsApp and FAQ App here to help you enhance your customer support experience .

Reagarding to your question, I clearly understand you are facing conversion issues with your product page that might discourage people from purchasing. No worries, let me give you some comments on your UI/UX design for better enhancements. Please kindly check:

1. Use High Quality Product Image

Replace any blurry images with high-resolution photos that show clear details of the product. This enhances professionalism and trust. Allow users to zoom in on images to see the product up close. Consider adding photos showing the device in various scenarios (e.g., pet owners holding it during a walk, a dog responding to it) to demonstrate practical use.

2. Add engaging and informative Product Description

You should focus to tell audience about features and benefits of your product rather than talking about trust section. Create a clear and engaging product description that explains the main benefits, such as “Gentle and Effective Bark Control” and “Safe for All Dog Breeds.” This helps customers understand why this product is better than alternatives

3. Add Trust Badge Section under Product Description

Relocate the trust badges (e.g., “Secure Checkout” and “Free Shipping”) below the main product section or in a side panel to avoid clutter and still reassure customers at the right point in the purchase journey. Take a look at this example below:

4. Revise Customer Review Section

Your current layout shows all reviews in large blocks of text, which can feel overwhelming. People often skimming the page might skip reading the reviews because it’s hard to quickly identify key points. You should organize reviews more clearly to helps build trust immediately. Here is references for you

5. Add Promotion into your Product Page

Consider to add Promotion to your product page to drive urgency and encourage conversions. Highlight a Limited-Time Offer: Emphasize that the discount is available for a short time only. For example, add a phrase like “Limited Time Offer – Ends Soon!” This urgency can encourage shoppers to make a quicker decision. Don’t forget to choose a promotion banner that stand out from the rest of the page to catch the user’s attention.

6.Add Live Chat Support for your store

I noticed that your website lacks alive chat feature, which would allow customers to contact you immediately. This is a valuable touchpoint to connect with your customers and understand them better. A powerful live chat that assists potential customers instantly by addressing their questions or concerns in real time can help prevent abandonment and encourage purchases

I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a free Live Chat, WhatsApp & FAQ App. You can easily reach customer support via WhatsApp, ensuring immediate assistance for inquiries. Also, the widget provide multi self-Service options such as order tracking and an FAQ section empower customers to resolve common questions on their own, reducing the need for direct support.

Hello @Daniel963 ! I’m Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

I’m sorry to hear that your product hasn’t met your expectations. When you mention unstable revenue, there are many factors to consider beyond the product’s price and how you promote it to customers. In this response, I want to highlight a few suggestions to improve the conversion rate on your online store, helping you attract more stable traffic:

1. Overview of the Online Store
Your online store has a strong point with its smooth and easy-to-understand UX. I had a trial experience from viewing products, selecting items, adding them to the cart, and trying out the checkout. Everything worked well and quite smoothly. The color scheme is also very moderate, not overwhelming for long browsing sessions. HOWEVER:
The homepage is not organized properly. This should be the page where you introduce your business, especially highlighting your brand identity. However, currently, when I enter the homepage, I feel ‘bombarded’ by a lot of product listings, which should be displayed under the Products section.
=> You should consider the homepage layout below and think about adding hero banner images. If you want to push sales for the ultrasonic anti-barking device, add it in the top position under Best Sellers so that buyers are more likely to click to view the product.

2. Effectiveness of Pinterest Ads
Can you share more about the target settings for the ads you’re running for this product? Since your product is already a niche item, the target audience should be as specific as possible, rather than targeting a general group like ‘pet owners, dog lovers, etc.’
You might want to consider other channels like Meta or TikTok, which have large traffic and reach for running ad campaigns. You can try A/B testing on these new channels for about 1-2 weeks and then make appropriate adjustments.

If you find these suggestions helpful for you, please let me know by giving BON Loyalty a ‘LIKE’ or marking it as a ‘SOLUTION’.

Best,

Tracy from the BON Loyalty team

Hey Daniel963!

Heddy from Gameball: Loyalty Program & VIP here!

It sounds like you’re experiencing a common issue where traffic isn’t converting into sales. Even with a strong CTR, if visitors are landing on your product page and leaving without purchasing, there might be several factors at play.

First, ensure your product descriptions are clear and emphasize the benefits of the Ultrasonic Anti Dog Barking Device. High-quality images or videos showcasing the product in use can also enhance appeal. Additionally, consider including customer reviews or testimonials to build trust.

It’s essential to create a sense of urgency or scarcity, like limited-time offers, which can encourage immediate purchases. Lastly, check your website’s loading speed and mobile responsiveness, as these can significantly impact user experience and conversion rates.

Let me know if you need more specific advice!

Hi @Daniel963 ,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

I’m genuinely impressed with your website. It has a stylish flair while remaining clean, clear, and professional. Based on my expertise in CRO, I’d love to offer some suggestions to improve the conversion rate and sales for your store.

Hero Image: Ensure the main image clearly displays the device’s design and includes a scenario showing it in use if possible. This helps build instant understanding.

Product Videos: For items like ultrasonic devices, a short video demonstrating how it works with a dog can make a significant difference in building trust and interest.

Mobile Optimization: Ensure that the page loads quickly and is easy to scroll on mobile, as most Pinterest users browse from their phones. Double-check that buttons are large enough to be tapped easily and images load correctly.

Checkout Process

  • Streamlined Checkout: Ensure the checkout process is smooth, with as few steps as possible. Offering guest checkout and multiple payment options can reduce friction.
  • Cart Abandonment: Implement reminders for users who abandon their carts, using email or SMS campaigns.

Testing for Results
If possible, conduct A/B tests on headline changes, CTA colors, or adding/removing elements (like reviews or product details). Also, try analyzing visitor behavior through a tool like Hotjar to see if users are dropping off due to specific page sections.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful in optimizing your website’s conversion rate and sales. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I wish you the best of luck with your online venture.

Hi @Daniel963

It sounds like you’ve put a lot of effort into your store and ads, but the disconnect between traffic and conversions can be really frustrating. Let’s take a closer look at your product page and potential store design issues that could be affecting your sales. I’ll point out actionable insights to help you figure out why people might not be purchasing.

Key Issues and Fixes

1-Product Page Design

  • First Impression: Your product page feels cluttered, and the design lacks trust signals. When people click through an ad, they expect a professional, clean page that reassures them of quality and reliability.
  • Fix: Simplify the layout. Use larger, high-quality product images. Add a clear and compelling headline that emphasizes the benefits rather than just features (e.g., “Stop Barking Instantly & Improve Your Dog’s Behavior Effortlessly!”).

2-Product Description

  • Problem: The description is generic and lacks emotional appeal. People need to know how this product improves their lives.
  • Fix: Rewrite the product description with a focus on solving pain points. Highlight how the ultrasonic device can reduce stress, improve relationships with neighbors, and create a calmer home environment. Use bullet points for clarity.

3-Price Perception

  • Problem: Without enough perceived value, people may feel the product is overpriced.
  • Fix: Add a comparison chart to show why this device is better than alternatives. Offer limited-time discounts or emphasize bonuses like “Free Shipping Today Only.”

4-Call to Action (CTA)

  • Problem: The CTA (“Buy Now”) doesn’t stand out and doesn’t feel urgent.
  • Fix: Use a more engaging and specific CTA like “Get Yours Now – Solve Barking Issues Today!” Also, add scarcity elements (e.g., “Only 5 Left in Stock”).

5-Lack of Trust

  • Problem: People are hesitant to buy because they’re unsure of the quality or reliability of your store.
  • Fix: Add trust badges (“Secure Checkout,” “Money-Back Guarantee”), social proof (reviews, photos from real customers), and detailed return/refund policies.

6-Slow Page Load Times

  • Problem: If your page is slow, it increases bounce rates.
  • Fix: Test your page speed with tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix, and optimize images, reduce scripts, and remove unnecessary plugins.

Suggested Product Page Structure

Here’s a structure to improve your conversion rate:

1-Hero Section (Above the Fold):

  • A large image of the product in use.
  • Headline: “Your Solution to Excessive Barking – Fast, Safe & Effective!”
  • Subheadline: “Join thousands of pet owners who’ve transformed their dog’s behavior.”

2-Key Benefits (Visual & Emotional Appeal):

  • Add 3-4 high-quality images or icons with captions highlighting benefits.
  • Example:
  • “Safe for Pets & Humans”
  • “Portable & Rechargeable for Convenience”
  • “Instant Barking Control”

3-Product Description (In-Depth but Clear):

  • Use storytelling to show how the product solves problems.
  • Include a short video demonstrating the product in action.

4-Trust Section:

  • Customer reviews with photos.
  • Guarantees: “Risk-Free 30-Day Money Back.”

5-Call to Action:

  • A sticky “Add to Cart” button that stands out (bright color).
  • Urgency: “Order now to get free shipping and save 20% today!”

Example of a Better Product Page Design

Here’s a mockup design idea for better visualization:

Image Description:

  • Hero banner with product image and bold benefits.
  • Trust badges under the product title.
  • Customer reviews with images near the CTA.

Analyze Your Traffic

The high Pinterest CTR shows your ads are attracting clicks, but the issue could also be misaligned expectations. Run a short survey or poll to ask why visitors didn’t purchase, or use tools like Hotjar to analyze visitor behavior on your page (e.g., heatmaps or session recordings).

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy
