We are having trouble logging into some of our store accounts. It says “too many requests”; there is no error code and no capcha request.
Worse than that I have discovered Shopify has literally no live support anymore.

Hi, @PatrickGW
Sorry to hear you’ve been having troubles logging in as well as contacting our Support team. Some merchants were encountering errors within their admin earlier today. Our developers were aware of these issues and worked as fast as possible to find a solution. The issues are resolved.
If you continue to experience any issues, please try clearing your cache before logging in, and trying again. After trying that, if you are still experiencing issues, please reply here with as much context as possible surrounding the issue.
Otherwise, to contact our live Support team you can follow head to our Contact page, login to your store (or click “continue without logging in”), then search for the issue you’re having (for example, “logging in”), then look for the option to Continue to get support. From there, our team will always be happy to assist you via live chat, or email, as well as callback when available.
We apologize for any inconvenience while we worked to resolve these issues. Updates on any known live issues can always be found on our Shopify Status page.
Thank you for your patience!
This is what my third party developer says, to give you some additional direction on the issue because your recommendation was not successful
Hi Patrick,
This sounds like a Shopify issue. They are probably getting a DDOS attack OR someone has a lot of traffic on a server like yours. Regardless, Shopify claims that those things should never affect you.
I would task Demian to post a ticket and hound them until it is resolved.
I’m experiencing this same issue it seems. Earlier I was only able to log into the admin side of my store after a dozen+ attempts, and even then it was unusable once logged in. The admin side seems to be up and running now, but now I’m seeing that my customers can no longer log into their own accounts, receiving the same error that you stated. I was able to replicate the error by logging into my test user account:
"Something went wrong.
What happened?
Too many requests, please try again later"
There’s no error code to try and diagnose the issue, so I hope Shopify follows up on this issue soon.
Hi Hillary, I’m experiencing the same issue as reported above. I noticed the issues earlier today that do seem to be resolved, but this seems to be a different but possibly related issue. I have cleared my cache and cookies and reattempted logging in, but had no luck. I’ve provided a bit more context in my reply to PatrickGW on this thread for your reference. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can try to remedy this error, or if this is a server issue that needs to be addressed on Shopify’s end. Thank you!
Thank you both for your replies and letting us know that you’re still experiencing issues. Sorry to hear that. Thank you @Clay_W for the further context surrounding the exact error you are receiving, and when. Thanks @PatrickGW for the sharing the message from your developer.
At this time, there are no live issues reported, and if clearing your cache has not resolved the errors, the best next step is to reach out to our Support team directly to report the errors. Since we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’ll need to look into this further via live chat, callback, or email. Our Support team will be able to look into your account in detail, and then reach out to the appropriate escalated Support team (such as our Technical team) as needed.
As I mentioned previously, to contact our Support team, head to our Contact page, login to your store, then search for the issue you’re having (for example, “customer accounts”), then look for the button to Continue to get support. From there, you’ll be able to connect with our Support team.
Thanks again for keeping me updated here, and for the further context. Let me know if you have any troubles following the steps to contact our team, I’d be happy to assist further.
We had this error yesterday (Sept. 29th) on our 1st store. And today we are experiencing it on our 2nd store. It happens when we try to log in to a customer account through our website. We have tried clearing cache, logging in off our wifi, and trying different browsers. No luck so far, we will be reaching out to Shopify Support.
I got in touch with Shopify support, and it appears that this issue is indeed related with the sporadic admin server issues. They don’t currently have an ETA on a fix for this yet though, but they have told me they will reach out as soon as this has been remedied.
As a temporary solution, disable reCaptcha in preferences and customers will be able to login.
That seemed to work for us! Thank you for helping!
Thanks @corbin403 for joining the thread and for the information about the customer account login issues. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing these issues as well. If you haven’t already, I would still reach out to our Support team directly so that we can log this issue for your account specifically.
Thank you to @Clay_W for your update after speaking with our Support team directly, as well as for your suggested workaround solution. Much appreciated.
Our team is also recommending seeing if you can replicate this error on a fresh copy of your theme, as in some cases it has been a theme related issue. If you haven’t tried already, you can try adding a fresh copy of your theme to your store and previewing the theme to see if the same error occurs. Note that this will not affect your current theme. Let me know how this goes!
