Hi I wonder if you can help please. When I add the materials and dimensions of a product, it goes across the entire product, in all the collections. I would love to know how individualise this please Thanks so much Gemma X @OrgoneCreatrix
Hi there @OrgoneCreatrix
In order for each product to have their own unique materials and dimensions listed on the product page you will want to save the information within the specific product’s information page in your Shopify Admin. You can get there by going to Products and selecting the product you want to edit. Now, there won’t be space to enter this information by default, but you can fix that by using metafields. Metafields allows you to save information that is not usually captured in your Shopify Admin. It also allows you to display this information on your online store. You can find more information about using metafields on this page here.
To use metafields there are ultimately three steps:
- Create the metafield definition following these steps here.
- Add the metafield value to the correct part of your store following these steps here.
- Connect metafields to your theme to display specialized information on your online store following these steps here.
I’ve included examples of what these steps may look like for you below:
Step 1: Create metafield definition
Step 2: Add metafield value to the correct part of your store (the product page in this example)
Step 3: Connect metafield to your theme
Please let me know if you have any questions after trying that out.
Thanks Erin. How can I then bulk upload these info through the product import template?
Hi @Vhro
To bulk edit metafields I would recommend using an app. I came across Matrixify by ITissible that I believe will help you complete this. There are other apps that may be able to help as well. For example, the app Bulk Product Edit & CSV import by Hextom appears to help with bulk editing metafields too.
Thank you @Erin_1 for suggesting the use of our app!
@Vhro you sure can bulk import Metafields with our app!
Here we even do have a tutorial on how to do exactly that - How to bulk manage Shopify Metafields?
I hope that this is what you are looking for. If you need any assistance along the way - let us know!
