Why can't I refund a PayPal transaction on my online store?

As PayPal is a third-party payment gateway, we are limited in the support we can provide when something goes wrong. If my suggestions below do not work, please contact PayPal directly and quote the error code, error message and order details to them, and they will be able to help you work out what the issue may be.

When you create an account with Shopify the PayPal Express Checkout account is created with the email you used to sign up for your Shopify store. Before you can receive payments, you will need to complete this setup. We have more info on this in our help doc here. PayPal also has more info on this error.
