Why can't I refund an order on my online store?

I am trying to refund an order which I have been doing for years on my store and keep getting an error message saying I don’t have permission to refund an order. Any ideas?

To gather a bit more information, are you able to share what device you’re attempting to refund the order on (i.e desktop, phone, app, etc)?

If attempting to process the refund on the app and the following error populates: You need permission to refund orders, you will need to complete the refund on another device like a desktop or browser.

Alternatively, I would recommend ensuring you have the correct permissions assigned to you in order to successfully process refunds. We have a great Staff Permissions document you can check out to confirm this.
