why is every solution to every answer to add lines of code? I thought the whole point of shopify was to not have to worry about being a coder/knowing code. And most of the code provided to solutions I’m seeking don’t ever work anyway. Super frustrating.
Topic summary
Frustration that many Shopify fixes involve adding code, conflicting with expectations of a no‑code experience. Reported issue that shared code snippets often don’t work, increasing user dissatisfaction.
Platform response acknowledges the concern and notes alternatives via core features and the Shopify App Store (third‑party apps/extensions). A request is made for specific use cases to offer non‑coding options where possible.
A concrete pain point raised: modifying the invoice template to display all payments received. The user does not want to purchase an app for an infrequent need and prefers manual workarounds rather than incurring extra costs.
Key tension highlighted: basic operations are no‑code, but customizations beyond defaults often require either theme/code edits or paid apps, which some merchants find unacceptable.
Status: No resolution yet. Next step is for affected users to share precise requirements so alternative, no‑code solutions (if any) can be suggested. Pending further details.
Hi there, @davidsamra !
Welcome to the Community! Definitely a great place to gather some input regarding anything about the platform!
With regards to your inquiry, as someone who is not well-versed in coding, I definitely understand your sentiments here however, I have found that the platform does provide alternatives to this with our core features as well as our extensive library of apps in the Shopify App Store.
Are you able to tell me more about the issues you are currently needing help with? I am more than happy to see what other alternative solutions we may have available for you.
Looking forward to hearing more from you and assisting you further in this.
So if we want a simple change to an invoice template so it shows all of the payments made, and we don’t know coding we have to buy an app? Not gonna happen. I’ll use the template for invoices and hand write the payments made onto it for our customers. I’m not draining more money from the store to pay for something I seldom need.
