First time posting a question and somewhat new to Shopify. Have read through tutorials and past questions, but still trying to find an answer.
For gift cards, I have set this up to automatically fullfill, but noticed a past order still had a fullfill option to select. I would think this wouldn’t be an option if it’s automatically fullfilled, but want to clarify. What happens if we hit fullfill months later on a gift card order?
Is it possible you did not turn on automatic fulfillment until after this specific order was placed? The best thing to do would be to take a look at the order timeline. Here you’ll be able to see whether the gift card was in fact sent to the customer.
To view the order timeline, simply open the order in question and scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you will see all actions created by this order.
If the gift card was not fulfilled you can choose to either fulfill it, or cancel and refund the order. I recommend also reaching out to the customer to explain the situation as an act of good faith.
In the meantime, I’d love to know more about your store and how you’re marketing the gift cards!
Thanks Skye! I suspected that I hadn’t enabled automatic fulfilment at that time - we probably learned after that first order. My client did a test this weekend and the order was automatically fulfiled.
It’s been a few months since I set up the gift cards - I used the Shopify community help section to do so! We set it up as a digital card at $20 and set it to automatically fulfil plus edited the notification template specifically for gift cards. I might be forgetting some details as it was awhile ago and took a bit of effort.
