Why don't Shopify themes have a stock indicator & shipping calculator?

Ok I guess this is more of a philosophical question and doesn’t really need an answer, per se.

I’ve been using Symmetry and for the most part it’s a good theme. With the recent update to the 2.0 structure, the theme has lost a lot in looks - huge expanses of white space, photo size instead of information, and sparseness instead of navigation.

I sell yarn. Customers have to have the number of skeins available showing both on product and collection. If their project takes eight skeins they won’t want to click on a color with only five skeins and find out that they can’t add eight skeins to the cart the hard way (by clicking the little + over and over).

Amiright?

So I’m looking at paid for and the free themes thinking maybe I should switch. There are a lot of free themes that might work except there is no stock indicator. I get that many products might not need a stock indicator - say a $10K watch, how many of these would you need to buy? But yarn (and other products like fabric, plants, food things, bead store) need a stock indicator.

Themes like Pacific, Brooklyn, Craft(!), don’t have stock indicators. Free themes don’t have a shipping calculator - and for old timers remember Shopify used to offer the shipping calculator with a yearly agreement. So right off, I’m digging into the code and trying to parse the way a theme is setup - on the paid for, I’m certainly not buying the theme if it would be difficult to add the stock indicator (much less a shipping calculator).

ok, so my ideal theme would look something like the J.Jill clothing website. If anyone knows of such a theme I’d love a head’s up.

Anyway, had to get this off my chest.
