Why is the filter in my Shopify reports not working?

The Filter in Shopify Reports was working fine and suddenly one day it didn’t. I can click on the drop down menu but I am unable to select anything from the list. And so not able to do any filtering for my reports. The same happen no matter which browser I am on. I have cleared cache and history, updated browser software, updated laptop OS.. but all these didn’t help. When I am login to shopify from my mobile, the filter works fine. There is nothing wrong with my mouse or trackpad as I can select from other drop-down menu outside of shopify without an issue. I need filter to work desperately so I can read the relevant data in my reports. Please help.

Hi @Carrielim

Claudia here from Better Reports.

Have you been able to find a solution for this with Shopify? If not, I would recommend our app Better Reports.

All of our reports can be filtered with existing Shopify fields, tags, metafields, attributes, properties. We can also help you create custom fields to use as filters such as filtering for orders with 5+ of item A or customers who bought product A in their first purchase.

In addition to this, Better Reports has more than 60 built-in reports available out of the box that cover many common use-cases for merchants. You can schedule reports to run at set frequencies to your email or Google Drive or export the reports in CSV, Excel or PDF format.

I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I’ll be happy to set this up for you.

What do you think?

I am having the same problem and when I called tech support they said 10 time “That is very odd” They had no solution. They could not replicate the issue. They said they would send an email follow up, so that i could share my screen recording of this and they never did. I do not want to install another app. I just want Shopify to function as it is suppose to.

I am having the same issue. I too do not want to download an app to fix what is clearly a Shopify issue. That is a bandaid rather than a solution. Clearly, this is happening to more people.

I am having the same issue. When I try to use a filter for my reports none of the filters drop in. Did you figure out a fix?

Nope, no fix yet! Shopify team also has not gotten back to me with any solution.

Hi @Carrielim - we should be able to get this solved using a Sourcetable spreadsheet. (Full disclosure, I am the founder.)

The steps are pretty simple:

  • signup and create an account.
  • connect your Shopify integration (this will sync all your Shopify data)
  • build a report using the Shopify data in our spreadsheet; you can filter, sort, pivot, and run any query you like.
  • the report will stay up to date because all the data is synced and stays fresh.

If you have any trouble, just reach out to support through the homepage and someone on our team will jump on a call to get this problem solved for you.

Hope that helps and have a great day!
– Eoin

The shopify tech team has resolved the issue! Filter in reports are working fine now.
