Why isn't my Facebook pixel showing as connected on my online store?

I set up facebook pixels + the events and everything. but when i go to my shopifystore and scroll to the facebook pixel it says “setup facebook” as i didnt already set it up.

Is this normal or shouldnt it say something like “connected” ? can somebody who has his pixel set up tell me if this is good or did i miss something?

I dont want to run ads and be later like “ohh my pixel didnt work because i didnt set it up properly”

It is in Shopify>Onlinestore>Preferences>scrolling to “Facebook Pixels”

As I understand it, you have set up your Facebook Pixel, however it is still showing that it has not been set up. Rest assured I will provide some guidance on this. May I ask how you set up your pixel? As this needs to be set up using the Facebook Ads Manager or in Facebook and Instagram. Check out our help doc here explaining the setup process. You can either create a new Facebook pixel directly in Facebook and Instagram by Meta by clicking Create new in the pixel set-up box, or you can create a Facebook pixel in Facebook Ads Manager. Can you tell me if this is what you’re seeing on your side?

With the new Facebook & Instagram channel, you must set up the Facebook pixel via the channel, not through Online Store > Preferences to clarify. The integration in Online Store > Preferences only works for merchants in countries that are unable to use Facebook & Instagram, for example, China. Let me know if the above applies to you!

Hi, thanks you for your answer so far!

I checked the help doc and thats exactly what i did.

As you see I share data and it even shows that my pixels is connected in the settings in the facebook & instagram app

I have also linked it to my facebook account/site asit should be

But then it still shows up like this in the settings, like I didnt set it up…

However the Pixel itself is showing in facebook business manager too and the little dot next to it is green too. It has no yellow or red messages and I doublechecked everything.

I dont know exactly what you mean with “set up the Facebook pixel via the channel” but I think this is what i did, since It automaticly opens the sales channel when I press “set up facebook”

You integration of FB with Shopify pixel is not done properly. Try doing it again.

Yeah thats what i thought. something isnt done properly but i have no clue what i do wrong since i already deinstalled it and reinstalled the pixel on shopify. however on facebook it says i get the data so i dont know where i went wrong?? Here a screenshot of the date on my pixel:

So my pixel should be working, doesnt it?

Thanks for getting back to me with your detailed response – that is such a great help!

From what I can see from your screenshots, your set-up checks out, and I can see from the data that the pixel is firing events for you. I checked with our internal support for you, and they mentioned that the preferences section originally was necessary, but with the current setup of the Facebook channel it only needs to be in the channel now. You can no longer place that in preferences there. But it will be fully integrated where it is. You can refer to Facebook sales channel as the only place where you would see reliable info about pixel. So, it looks like you are good to go!
