I just migrated our 15 year old site over from Wordpress and everything is running well except for the abandoned cart function. I can track shoppers adding items to cart , but then they are not appearing in the abandoned cart workflow queue.
The difference in both the amount of shoppers that get added to the abandoned and the recovery is absolutely staggering. Why does Shopify not add the shopper at the moment the email is entered? How can this be fixed? Is there an app.
I have never seen anything like this and this is at least our fourth platform. To say we have a long history of data showing this drop off is an understatement.
It is called abandoned cart, not abandoned checkout for a reason.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience here.
To clarify, the Abandoned checkouts section of your admin displays orders that were abandoned at checkout—not sessions that were abandoned on the cart page. When a customer proceeds to checkout and enters their details, that information will appear under Orders > Abandoned checkouts once they leave without completing the purchase. You can find more details on abandoned checkout recovery here.
I am curious to hear a little bit more about your previous systems and your ideal experience with Shopify’s abandoned checkout recovery so that I can submit detailed feedback to our developers on your behalf. Did your previous systems capture the products in the cart before a customer proceeded to checkout?
