This is regarding the address entered in the “store details” section and the fulfilment location/shipping profile. I can never seem to find a direct yes or no answer.
Hi there, @laram !
Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community with this question about your address information!
The address that you have entered in Settings > Store Details is only visible to you on your Shopify billing. This address can be visible in your order confirmations and other email notifications if you’ve edited those templates to include this information. If you haven’t made changes to these notifications, then you don’t need to worry about customer’s seeing that address info.
Another situation where this specific info could be seen is if you’re currently using this address as a shipping location, or origin, in your store. If this is the case, the info would appear as the return address information on your shipping labels. If you’re using a different location for your shipping, then you don’t need to worry about that specific address in ‘Store Details’ being shown to customers. If you’re looking for a way to circumvent this information appearing on a shipping label, we recommend purchasing or renting an PO Box and using the address related to that as your shipping location, so that way only this information is provided to customers on shipping labels.
Hopefully you find this information helpful! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Hello! In the store details, my legal company name which is LLC is different from my store name. I sell just in the US. Do I need to include my legal name as well on the order confirmation and on other notifications? If I have to include it, then what is the way?
Hi there, @Tom342 . Thanks for reaching out to the Community with your question!
Shopify Support Staff like myself aren’t legal experts, so we can’t advise on if you’re required to feature the legal name of your LLC on your notifications. This would be something you’d want to ask a local law authority, just to ensure you’re following proper protocol. However, I do believe that it would be a good idea to include this information about your business, as it would provide more information to customers to share with other potential customers, or look you up if they need to reach out. I’d include this information on your Contact Us page and your About Us pages, if you already have these set up.
When it comes to including this information on your order confirmations, and other notifications, this is possible. You can add some text with this information to the liquid HTML template for these notifications. Adding this text is beyond the scope of support of Shopify, but we can direct you to the area where you need to go to add the text.
- Login to your Admin
- Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Notifications’
- Find the notification you’d like to edit, and click on their blue name
- Scroll down the page and you’ll see the body (HTML) section. This is where you’d add the text regarding your LLC name. For example, adding this info near the ‘contact this email for more information’ section of the body wouldn’t be a bad spot for this info.
These steps would be the same for adding this info to your other notifications, as well.
You can also add the legal name of your LLC to your Shopify Admin by doing these steps:
- Login to your Admin
- Click on ‘Settings’ > ‘Store Details’
- Click ‘Edit’ in the ‘Basic Information’ section and a box will appear where you can add your legal, LLC name to your Admin.
Hopefully you find this information helpful! Additionally, if you’d like some feedback on your store, we’d be happy to provide you with some actionable feedback! Feel free to follow up with me!
