i am wondering what is wrong, have spent 8 months and a lot of money on paid ads and never gotten a single sale. i have tried copying other stores selling similar products and made mine even better. lowered my prices even $20 less than theirs. created good ads. i get about 20 people a day or 50 plus with paid ads but never had a single conversion. i feel my store is simple, professional and looks legitimate. i have every option of pay available and i feel i have gone over every possible setting to make it available for purchase to anyone anywhere. please help!
Topic summary
A store owner reports zero sales after 8 months of paid advertising, despite receiving 20-50 daily visitors. Theyâve lowered prices $20 below competitors, created quality ads, and believe their lamp store looks professional and legitimate, yet havenât achieved a single conversion.
Key Issues Identified:
-
Design & UX Problems: Dark pink/black color scheme creates poor contrast, making CTAs barely visible. Hero button and âAdd to Cartâ donât stand out. Homepage prioritizes newsletter signup over product sales.
-
Trust Signals Missing: Limited contact information (only Outlook email and phone), no About Us page, 16-day-old domain, insufficient business details. Lacks customer reviews and detailed product information.
-
Content Deficiencies: Minimal text throughout site, no product videos (critical for lighting products), incomplete product specifications (size, material, charging details). Banner images cut off on larger screens.
Recommended Actions:
- Redesign CTAs with better contrast, shadows, and compelling copy (âLimited stock availableâ)
- Add customer review sections and detailed product descriptions
- Include About Us section on homepage
- Consider paid theme (Impact suggested) for better conversion optimization
- Implement BOGO promotions and visitor counter apps
- Add product videos showing actual lighting effects
- Review ad targeting and landing page alignment
- Analyze Google Analytics for drop-off points
Hi,
This sounds like a very large question and the problem may be in the most unexpected place.
Is your traffic qualitative, and are your visitors interested in your product? You need to be sure that your advertising is relevant for the users who see it. Review your ad targeting to ensure youâre reaching the right demographic. Especially look at metrics like bounce rate and time spent on site to gauge interest.
Do people on your website feel secure enough to buy? Ensure you have trust signals such as customer reviews, a strong return policy, contact information, and even a security badge for payments.
Your shop can have a bad user experience. Ask friends or colleagues to go through the buying process. Are there any blockers, like confusing navigation, slow load times, or difficult checkout processes?
Be careful with reducing the price. People might perceive lower prices as lower value or quality. Focus on highlighting the value and uniqueness of your product. High-quality images, detailed descriptions, and clear benefits are also very important.
Ensure that your website is fast and easy to use for mobiles.
When previous aspects are good, consider implementing retargeting ads. It might remind visitors to come back and complete the purchase.
Use tools like Google Analytics to check where visitors are dropping off. They may leave at checkout, or they can abandon carts, etc. You will define the problem better and faster.
I hope my advice will help to improve your sales
Hi @averagejoejoe , thank you for posting here!
I wanted to share some general feedback for your store and tips on traffic and conversion with you here that you might find useful:
1. Redesign the Hero page- button:
The button on the hero page is crucial for driving customers to your product collections, so it needs to stand out and have an attractive CTA text for customers. Currently, the button is simple and the color is somehow not attractive; I recommend adding a button with some effects like shadows to give the button a raised appearance and changing the color to align with your brandâs concept to encourage customers to click on it more.
Additionally, instead of âbuy nowâ you could use more appealing messages like âLimited stock available. Buy now to secure your item!â, âGrab yours today,â or âGet our new collections first,â etc.
2. Choose another hero page
I noticed that your store sells lamps, so you can edit and photoshop an image including some more products of your store to educate the customers more about your store.
For example:
3. Adding About Us section on the Homepage
We cater to humanistic shoppers, who will seek out who is BEHIND the product, and why they should buy from you. So consider adding an About Us section to introduce your brand.
I can see that you have not had an About Us page yet but adding a separate section on your homepage would help visitors easy to read without having to navigate to another page. It would improve the user experience in general.
For example:
4. Adjust the text font on the details product page
I highly recommend you lighten the font for the paragraphs, as the current text is too bold and doesnât look nice.
5. Adding the Review part on the homepage
To increase customer trust in your shop, you should add a customer review section at the end of your homepage.
6. Add key USPs section with key icons
Your current homepage lacks key information about products. It may increase the bouncing rate as users donât find important content they need. Helpful, easy-to-see benefits icons quickly introduce your productsâ unique selling points, giving a reason to purchase from you instead of the competition.
9. Make ATC button & price information in unique & prominent styling
Itâs important to highlight the key information like the price and call to action. Adding other styling like bold, and italic, using different colors and font sizes to the price, and mouse over state for the ATC button to make them more noticeable.
Besides my feedback for your store, I could give you some general tips for increasing the conversion rate for your store. You can create a promotion strategy to engage customers more to improve the checkout rate of your store:
- Build trust with a variety of pop-up notifications such as visitor counters, order counters, low stock alerts, flashing tabs, etc, You can check SnapNoti FOMO Visitor Counter - a FREE APP for all features to build more trust and trigger FOMO for your store.
- Create a gift pop-up for BOGO (Buy X get next X free, Buy X get Y 50% OFF)
- Create gifts auto-add based on cart amount: Spend $100, get a gift
- Create volume discount with quantity breaks: Buy 2 get 10% off, buy 3 get 20% off
I trust these recommendations will assist in enhancing your websiteâs conversion rate.

First, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear you have issues with sales and it has passed quite some time. It is hard, a lot of competition and it is not easy to turn visitors into customers. But will try to give you some feedback, maybe it can help.
You said " i feel my store is simple, professional and looks legitimate", letâs start from there. It does look simple and clean but to me, it is too dark. I know you went to route of a dark theme as you do sell lights. But that dark pink and black does not go too well. They are too close in color range so some things are not that emphasised. Like on the homepage, the hero button that buy now is barely readable. The white text would match better there. Similarly, on the product page, the lined-out Add to cart button is maybe the least noticeable element on the page but it should be one that sticks out the most. You want to make clear to the visitor where to click and draw their attention to that button.
For professional, well yes to some point, but it is mostly basic. I searched for same images on other websites and 3-4 does not look even close to basic, so you did a good job on that. Images are good, the small issue on hover, when the second image is displayed you do not see whole text so it is a bit strange. There are no visible issues with the layout, no visible bugs, or font issues. But you do have really small amount of text and content in general. I know an image speaks like a thousand words but in your case, you need a thousand words. For example, on the homepage, what is the most noticeable element, well it is signing up to our newsletter. Is that the most important to you, do you have a newsletter? Or do you want to sell a lamp? Notice that the banner image is cut and on medium to large screens the whole product is not visible so it looks like some abstract painting and not the light.
For legitimate, well not sure you would pass for me. We wrote one article on how to recognize a fake/scam Shopify store and yours would be on edge but I still would not buy from you. Mostly because of a lack of contact information, just a PH? I mean phone and Outlook email are not enough. And it does not look too professional. If you are a business you could leave registration number, address, and lumiaurora.com email address. Also for your domain, it says it is just 16 days old, so maybe you tried with another domain and it did not work.
Now it may look like I am just finding flaws but those are some things you could fix and improve your store by doing that. And would recommend a few things in general.
- If you are able, think about investing in a paid theme. Maybe not at start but along the way. Not that only they are visually more attractive and have more sections but they are oriented to conversion too. For example try the Impact theme https://themes.shopify.com/themes/impact/styles/sound/preview
- Even without a paid theme try to add more sections on the homepage and product page. On the homepage explain why lamps are good, why t buy them. Maybe also a few words on why lumiaurora. On the product page you really need more info, like size, material, charging translate this URL for example https://www.amazon.com.tr/Silikon-Lambas%C4%B1-Sevimli-Hayalet-%C3%87ocuk/dp/B0DFWDH9WJ and see how much info is there. And you could youse different sections, some icons some images.
- While images are good what you also need are videos, they are needed for that wow effect and to see how product actual looks and work. See how this guy made short videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNlGV0atUuxzvlmZIT4GJrg, it is also for marketing on social networks and that is a great strategy to have too. Note this looks like a test ground and no views but still
A short video on the homepage and product page would for sure increase sales.
Hope your luck turns and you get some sales. You do have some work, it is not easy but think it should return in sales.
It sounds like youâre putting in a lot of effort! Consider reviewing your websiteâs user experience and checkout processâsometimes small issues can lead to drop-offs. You might also want to analyze your ad targeting; ensure youâre reaching the right audience that resonates with your products. Finally, gathering feedback from visitors could provide insights into what might be holding them back from purchasing.
Hi @averagejoejoe ,
Iâm from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.
I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to your conversion rate:
1. Improving landing page
Your website isnât effectively converting visitors into buyers despite your advertising efforts. Without seeing your ads, I canât offer detailed recommendations on your landing page. However, here are some suggestions from Databox that you might find useful. You can read more in their article.
âWhen the click-through rate (CTR) is high but the conversion rate is low, it usually indicates an issue with the landing page. This is often due to a lack of effective calls-to-action (CTAs). To address this, create a clear CTA, such as a âBuy Nowâ or âRead Moreâ button. This CTA can be a clickable image with a small amount of text or a simple button.â
2. Improve the homepage
2.1. Change the color
You should choose different colors that provide a friendly look. The current look causes dazzle in my opinion.
2.2. Adding Promotional Sections and Banners on the Home Page:
Featuring sections like âBest Sellersâ and âOn Saleâ, New arrivals on the homepage can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site.
Additionally, you should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers. Additionally, you should add ATC, Shop now or add to the wish list buttons to encourage customers to buy your products. Here is a reference:

3. Adding a Customer Review Section
Displaying customer reviews can build trust and provide social proof, helping potential buyers make informed decisions. Here is a reference:
4. Providing Detailed Product Information
Including product details such as material composition, and care instructions can give customers more confidence in their purchases, reducing potential returns or dissatisfaction.
I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback. Good luck!
