Hi, so I just bought a domain name with Shopify, and now I want to transfer it. I see that the transfers are only available after 60 days, however, I already cancelled my shopify account. I do not want to pay for Shopify for 60 days just so I can transfer my domain name. I simply want to either cancel my domain name purchase, or transfer it now. Or even if I do have to wait to transfer it, do I still have to pay for shopify in the meantime? Or can I somehow transfer it after 60 days without logging in? Because right now it won’t even let me log in, it’s saying I have to pay money. Please Help!!!

Great question. Happy to help out today! Registrars must impose a lock that will prevent any transfer to another registrar for sixty (60) days following a change or recent purchase of a domain. So the domain will not be able to be moved until after those sixty days are up. With that said, you do not have to pay for your Shopify plan throughout those sixty days. You can simply cancel your store, and once those sixty days are up you can reach out to our support team to unlock the domain in order to allow you to transfer it elsewhere.
