I recently closed my first store and opened a new one. I am now trying to connect the domain that was originally linked to my first store to my new store.

I already received the confirmation email that the domain has been unlocked, but when I try to connect it, I keep seeing the following error message:

“Issue detected - No DNS record is set for the www subdomain.”

The problem is that I cannot find the DNS settings edit menu in order to fix this issue.

For your reference, I purchased the domain directly from Shopify.

Could you please guide me on how to resolve this problem and successfully connect my domain to my new store?

I’m reading this as you’re saying that you have successfully transferred (but not yet connected) the domain name from your previous store to your new store. Is that correct?

My initial thought was that the domain is inaccessible because the previous store has already closed.

Have/Can you access this address from your new store and see if you can set the DNS from here: https://admin.shopify.com/settings/domains ?
