  • Shopify never sends emails from Gmail accounts
  • This is a common, daily occurrence on the forum with multiple similar reports

How the scam typically works:

  • Scammers direct victims to “private support” via Telegram after clicking links
  • They claim to find a “big problem” with your store requiring access to fix
  • May charge for unnecessary “work,” steal data, claim your computer is hacked, or offer fake software subscriptions
  • Clicking links adds your email to scammer lists for future attacks

Recommended actions:

  • Do not click any links in such emails
  • Report the email immediately
  • Search Google for wording used in these emails to verify they’re scams
  • Stay safe by ignoring these communications entirely

received an email from

shopifycomplianceteam98@gmail.com is this authentic ?

Hi @Junaid5

If I send you an email from taylorswift98@gmail.com with a link to the next tour free tickets, would you click? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

So a big no, Shopify would never send an email from Gmail account. There are a lot of, same or similar, scams here on forum. Every day there are a few

topics created and if you search you can find out that scammers first get you to click the link to “private” support on Telegram. First, by just doing that

your email is added to scammer good email lists and will send you more scams. Then support finds a “big” problem with your store and requires access to fix it. From there they could just charge you for “work” and fix the issue where is none. They could steal some data and a lot more. They could also tell you your computer is hacked and again get access, fix it, offer some software subscription, and so on.

So report any email like that, do not click any links, and do a Google search for some wording used in those emails.

Stay safe.
