Google Merchant Centre - Website needs improvement

Hello

I know this has been asked before but I’m completely stuck. I keep getting a Website needs Improvement notice from Google with the following message:

Make sure your website meets the following requirements

Your website should have a domain name that matches the uploaded domain name
Your entire website shouldn’t have any broken links
Your website shouldn’t contain any placeholder images or text
The product details and categories should match those that you provide in your product data
Your website shouldn’t contain generic information and shouldn’t miss crucial information about products

I have checked and rechecked (and rechecked) my website and policies and I’ve asked Shopify support and they can’t find anything wrong that would stop me getting on Google. I’ve emailed Google support for specific advice and I keep getting the same message.

I’ve tried everything that people have suggested on other threads but I am going round in circles. I would be very grateful if someone could possibly highlight what needs changing. My website is https://lindaslovelygifts.co.uk

Thank you in advance

Hi, @lindamh42 .

Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for posting your question.

To confirm, have you ensured that the domain you provided Google is the same one you use for Shopify?

In regard to the website containing no broken links, you’ll want to ensure your pages don’t lead to 404 pages, and they must be active. To rectify this, you can remove any old links to pages that no longer exist. For placeholder images or text, you’ll want to ensure that all your sections on your theme are complete and not left with placeholder images or text. Lastly, you’ll need to match the product category in Shopify with what you are uploading them as in Shopify.

I recommend reviewing Google Merchant Help Center’s article on how to fix website needs improvement errors for further clarification.

Hello Victoria

Thank you for your quick response.

I have checked all of those things and can’t find any errors but I will
check again. I won’t give up!!

It means that your website doesn’t meet Google’s quality guidelines. To resolve this, improve your site’s user experience by ensuring it has clear navigation, accurate product information, fast loading times, and a mobile-friendly design. Make sure all pages work correctly and provide a secure browsing environment with HTTPS.

Here are some examples after having a quick look:

Make sure to add your business details in the footer (address, email, phone, business hours)

Make sure to add a contact form on the contact page.

Make sure to add in or out of stock on the product landing page.

To find more issues, I recommend checking the below links and compare them against your website and business.
