After you’ve purchased a domain from a third-party provider, you’ll want to ensure you have the following information in order to connect it to Shopify:

First, you’ll need to log into your third-party domain provider account and change your DNS records to reflect Shopify’s records.

  • Navigate to your domain management area to find your DNS settings.
  • Point the A Record to 23.227.38.65 to Shopify’s IP address.
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com

After you’ve changed your DNS records on your third-party domain provider account, you can connect your domain to Shopify.

  • In your Shopify admin, head to the Settings > Domains section.
  • Click Connect existing domain.
  • In the Domain field, enter your domain and click Next.
  • Click Connect domain.
  • Please note: It may take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. Once your domain is verified, it is listed in the Domain section of the Domains page with the status Connected.
