I have a fraudulent deduction from my bank account and am unable to identify the shop and am unable to contact anyone at Shopify to assist with the situation. Is there any way to contact a person at Shopify and also to identify the shop owner?
Hey, [email removed]S_D_69!
I understand you have a concern related to a store. To provide some context, Shopify’s role is to merely provide business owners the tools for building their own online stores. These businesses are independent, so we aren’t involved in their day-to-day operations. As much as we would love to assist you, we don’t have access to orders and transactions, therefore we can’t trace a charge and identify the store where the transaction was made. Additionally, we are unable to discuss any store information due to merchant privacy.
While we can’t help you with the order, there’s still a solution in place for this and it’s to contact your bank. They can assist you with investigating this transaction. For more information on concerns about an online order, you may go over this FAQ page.
Hi Summer, thanks for the reply. This is the second time that I have had fraudulent deductions made from my credit card account by someone using Shopify, last time there were 5 deductions the largest being over $1700. Last time I was able to contact someone at Shopify who was able to confirm that it was a Shopify user from the number on my statement, this time there is no way to contact Shopify direct. I have contacted the bank and once again I have had to canecl my card and get a new one. This is very annoying and time consuming on my part now that I have to contact everyone that I make regular payments to, to give them my new number and some payments are always missed in the time it takes to get a new card. Hopefully the bank has now put a stop on any payments to Shopify and I will never purchase anything from anyone using Shopify as a payment provider.
