Hello! i’ve recently started the 14 day free trial yesterday since I’ve heard about shopify. I made a account and got everything ready in my store and I’ve enabled payments connected to my bank and etc but I haven’t verified yet. I wanted to check my website just from a customers pov so I looked up my website on a different browser and it said “Opening soon. Be the first to know when we launch.” I figured it was a password protection thing so I went over and tried to disable it but I couldn’t because I had to buy the plan which was reasonable. My solution was to just change the password on it but on my website it doesn’t even give a box to enter the password in? I was just wondering if this was because I’m on free trial and does this mean people on free trial had no way of earning money from orders in any way atleast one until they bought the plan. I guess my only options were to mess around in the site and see the themes.

First, congrats on getting everything up and running so quickly! You made good use of that free trial time! You’re entirely correct that the page you stumbled across is your ‘Password Page’, and is largely there to keep your store shuttered while you’re either away, working on things, or within the free trial. It’s common that a password box would be present on the page, however it could be hidden due to your trial status, or due to it being behind something that needs to be clicked in order for it to appear. If possible, please share your URL with me here so I can scope out the page and determine the reason why the box isn’t present currently.
I also have for you this helpful Shopify document that goes over the free trial in some more detail. You’re entirely correct when you say that you won’t be able to make sales on Shopify using the free trial - you will have to place your store on a paid plan before being able to make your first sale. The Free Trial is largely a tool to be used to help you get everything set up as needed to begin making those sales once you go live. The document I provided above also outlines some other helpful things you can do with your trial time. You’re also welcome to move your store to a paid plan at any point during your trial, so you’re not forced to wait the 14 days before being able to make sales. Additionally, you won’t be charged for your plan until the duration of your free trial ends!
