How can I verify my Shopify payment without a utility bill?

Hi,

I am over 18, but I live at my parents house. Shopify ask me to send my utilies bill. But since I don’t pay those my parents does, I can not verify and start recieving payments.
Is there a solotion to this? Or a way to verify via another ID?

If you’re happy to confirm in which country your store is based, I can share some info on the types of verification documents we can accept for Shopify Payments accounts there.

Generally speaking, the documentation would need to be in the name of the account owner, but I’d like to check to see what can be accepted where you are.

Could you tell me a bit more about what you’re selling and what stage your business is at?

I can share some info here on the types of documentation we would accept in terms of personal identity and address verification for Shopify Payments in Denmark, but first, it is important to note that if an address verification document is required for an individual, it must show the individual’s personal name and address.

This means that documents in your parents’ names would not be accepted for verification if the account is in your name.

Similarly, if an address verification document is required for a company, it must show the company name and address.

Check out the following lists to see if any of these document types would be available to you!

Identity Documents

  • Pas (Passport)
  • Kørekort (Driver’s license) — Photos of front and back are required
    • If neither a passport nor driver’s license is available, one of the following may also be accepted:
  • City of Copenhagen Identity card — Photos of front and back are required
  • Opholdstilladelse (Residence permit) — Photos of front and back are required
  • Department of Defence identity card (Military identity card)
  • Police identity card

Personal Address Documents

  • Utility Bill - Must be dated, and cannot be older than 6 months.
  • Bank statement - Must be dated, and cannot be older than 6 months.
  • Mortgage statement - Must be dated, and cannot be older than 6 months.
  • Lejekontrakt (Rental contract)
  • Sundhedskort / Sygesikringskort (Health insurance card)
  • Tax assessment from SKAT (Tax assessment)

Company/Entity Documents

  • VAT Registration
  • Erhvervsstyrelsen Document (Commercial register extract)
  • Registreringsattest (Registration certificate)
    • If the above are not available, one of the following may be accepted:
  • Vedtægter (By-laws)
  • Financial statements
  • Company/Entity Address Documents
  • Utility Bill
  • Bank statement
  • Rental contract
  • Tax assessment from SKAT (Tax assessment)
  • VAT Registration
  • Erhvervsstyrelsen Document (Commercial register extract)
  • Registreringsattest (Registration certificate)
  • Vedtægter (By-laws)
