How do I set it up so that I get an email when an online order comes through?

To create email notifications to let you or staff know when a customer places an order automatically, please follow these steps below:

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Notifications.

In the Staff order notifications section, click Add recipient.

From the first drop-down menu, select the email address for the notification from the following options:
- Select Email address, and then enter a new email address that you want to send the order notification to.
- Select a staff to send notifications to their email.
- Click Add an order notification. After you’ve set up a new order notification for an email address, you can test it by clicking Send test notification.

Great question! I’ll be happy to share steps and resources in order to have your order notifications all setup.
In order to receive online orders you’ll need to setup new order notifications within your Shopify admin. You can setup this notification for you or your staff in order to stay up to date with orders being placed. Once you’ve enabled this notification you can test it out by selecting Send Test Notification. I’ll share a screenshot below for better visibility.
Another helpful tip to note is if you’re on the go but would still like to keep track of orders coming through, you can enable push notifications on your mobile device while using the Shopify Mobile App.
How to add a new recipient to a new order notification:

Navigate to your Shopify admin, Settings > Notifications.

If you want to create notifications for orders from a particular POS location or from the web, then select a location from the list. You can select All to create notifications for all orders. To add notifications for more than one specific location, you need to create them as separate order notifications.

Click Add an order notification.
