We have set up our Notifications but are wondering how we know when each of the notification emails will be sent out? What is the time frame for example that the abandon checkout email is received by the customer once they leave items in their cart and then leave our site? Same with the other notifications…can we control when these emails arrive to the customer. Where is this located in Shopify.

Great question! Notifications are automatically triggered based on events that occur (i.e orders, shipping, etc) on the shop. These notifications can be located within the admin under Settings > Notifications and recommend checking out our Notifications Helpdoc for further insight on this.
The abandoned checkout email can be sent out:
- Automatically
- 1 Hour Later
- 6 Hours Later
- 10 Hours Later (the default)
- 24 Hours Later
- Never
Our Recovering Abandoned Checkouts document outlines this in further detail, along with circumstances when this email is not sent. To make adjustments to when this email is sent out to customers, you can head into Settings > Checkout and locate the Abandoned Checkout section.
Thanks so much for your response. The part about going to Settings> Checkout> Abandoned Checkout would be easy and great except that once I get to Checkout there is no section on Abandoned Checkout. Is there some setting in another area that would cause this to not show up?
