I would like to change the email address for customers to contact about their order. I would also like to know how to add a sentence including a return link fro happyreturns. I checked instructions online, but it seems the only way to change it would be to change the linked email for the entire site. As for the latter, it seems i have to go to the backend to fix coding.

Yes, if you want to change notification templates, you have go to ‘Settings > Notification templates > Customers > Order confirmation’ and change the code to change anything. That is the only way.
If you are not an expert then rather ruining the code, I would suggest you to seek help of the developer.
