I had a couple of payments which were on hold, I had no clue what for so I contacted shopify and used their Ai. It recommended me to check my email. I go on to check my email and received something from an email called “shopifymerchantconsultantteam@gmail.com” saying that I received a DMCA strike and my website was subjected to blockage as well as being taken down. I was currently in the process of moving so I wasn’t able to respond until today. But this is was they said,
"Dear Valued Store Owner, We have received a DMCA takedown notice from a theme developer claiming that your Shopify store is using an unlicensed theme. This is a violation of our policies, as themes must be purchased directly from Shopify’s Theme Store. Your store will be taken offline as soon as possible if this issue is not resolved. To address this, you can: Purchase: Buy the theme from Shopify’s Theme Store. Delete: Remove the unlicensed theme from your store. Transfer: Transfer a legitimately purchased theme from another store.
Please respond to this message immediately for assistance from our Shopify support team. Provide details on how you acquired the theme to avoid suspension of your store. We appreciate your cooperation and prompt response. Best regards, Shopify Team"
Now all Ive been using was the Dawn theme I just edited it to fit my taste, but I also didn’t leave this alone and told them that Ive been using the dawn theme, and it shouldn’t have received a DMCA strike. They then responded with this,
“We hope this message finds you well. We’re following up on the copyright takedown notice concerning your store. It’s imperative that we receive your theme license and details promptly to address this issue and prevent any potential disruptions to your business. Your cooperation is vital in upholding Shopify’s licensing terms and platform integrity. Please provide the requested information at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.”
I then apologized for the late response since I was moving and asked what can I do to prevent this. They then sent me this.

Since i was still moving i couldnt respond until i had gotten some internet but they said my website was subject to shutting down and me losing all the money that was currently on hold. So i contacted the fiverr seller and asked what do i need to do, he told me it would take 15 hours to fix and he charges 10 dollars an hour. So I said no problem. I then submitted the payment and i asked him what he needed from me to fix my website, I first asked if he needed the collaboration code. He then said no and he needed my login info. That threw a huge red flag, and now im looking all the way back on all of this. I can still cancel the fiverr order as well which I will do, but I just need some clarification.
