Illegal theme

Hello. Bought the premium theme from upwork agent and received an email from legal@shopify.com.

Hi there,

We received a Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown notice from a theme developer claiming that your Shopify store, 1bc65a-2.myshopify.com is using an unlicensed version of the following theme:

https://themes.shopify.com/themes/motion/styles/classic

This theme is only available to buy in Shopify’s Theme Store. Purchases of this theme made elsewhere are not licensed and each license is for a single store only.

Your store will be taken offline on October 1, 2024 if this issue hasn’t been resolved. You can resolve this issue by:

Reply directly to this email to let us know when you purchase, delete or transfer the theme.

Hi @JEVGENIJA85

You need to ask your developers to buy these theme for you (if it was discussed that your developers are going to give you the theme), if not then you need to purchase this theme on your own by going to the theme section. Yes for the motion theme, you can only use the licensed version bought from Shopify theme store directly.

If not, then you need to delete this theme and move back to your old theme or use a free Shopify theme to setup your store.

The same email I’ve got in July regarding other premium theme. But still I can publish it in my store. Does it means that I’ve been scammed by an agent and didn’t get full version of the theme?
