Main issue: A merchant paused their Shopify store (Pause & Build plan) and later lost access to the account email when their registered domain expired, preventing login to cancel billing. Charges continued ($9/month plus app subscriptions), only noticed after three months.
Support access: One participant shared Shopify’s general support contact link. Another provided a domain-specific link that includes the shop’s myshopify.com subdomain (shopDomain parameter), advising to replace “test.myshopify.com” with the actual store domain to reach live chat.
Conflicting feedback: Others report the links lead to a loop without reaching a human, and say it’s difficult or impossible to cancel.
Additional complaint: A user says they’ve been charged $41.57 monthly via PayPal for five months, that billing@shopify.com auto-replies, and PayPal directs them back to Shopify. They demand a refund and mention potential legal action.
Key terms: Pause & Build is a limited $9/month plan that keeps a store online but paused. “myshopify.com” is the store’s unique subdomain used for identification.
Status: No confirmed resolution. Actionable step is trying the domain-specific support link to initiate chat and request cancellation/refunds. Open questions remain on canceling without email access and stopping third-party payment authorizations.
I completely forgot that I was being charged $ 9 (plus apps subscriptions) for that plan and 3 months after I noticed it on my credit card bill
I can’t access my admin panel to cancel the subscription since I don’t have access to the admin e-mail above
I just can’t find any way of contacting Shopify Support and that’s really frustrating because I’m paying for services every month. It seems there’s no human contact channel besides support docs, that’s helpful but never solves anything and sometimes looks like a looping maze, and this forum, which I suppose isn’t the right place for this, is it?
I urgently need to cancel this subscription, could anyone help me?
Have the excact same issue, tho this is how the world is nowadays. Signing up for something takes a few seconds, though cancelling takes you hours.. It’s stupid how companies get away with this sh*t especially shopify. I tried to contact them, but like you said, there is no way to contact a real life person as far as I can see.. And the “help forum” is literally just a loop, you go in find the problem and it has a link that says contact shopify support, and boom the loop starts over again… Hate this. probably never gonna use shopify after this though.
If I were to reinvent the wheel and write an email for my billing crap and inability to cancel my account, this guy wrote exactly what I would write except I would have used more 4 letter words. In not being allowed to SIMPLY cancel my account dammit to hell. I’ve been charged now FIVE times since first week in August, 2023 $41.57 FIVE times each month i try my ass off to get this done and over and boom… here it is the first week of the month and BOOM shopify STEALS another $41.57 from my account via paypal. PayPal won’t allow me to stop paying it. Says to contact billing@shopify.com.
WHY?!?!?
THIS DAMN ADDRESS AUTO REPLIES IMMEDIATELY SAYING MORE OR LESS, CONTACT SHOPIFY SUPPORT.
HOW TO CONTACT THEM. This guy’s email stated they be MAY never use shopify again.
I’m saying for sure for sure, I will NEVER USE again due to this BS of being charged for 5 months $41.57 after i’ve written 5 emails and nobody gives a flying screw job whatsoever. It’s ignored and BOOM.. first of the month exit another charge of $41.57 from my account to my surprise and anger.
I want MY MONEY BACK PEOPLE!
FIVE TIMES $41.57 = $207.85
I’m contacting my fraud attorney on Monday to shore this BS UP! I’M SICK TO THE DAMN TEETH with how damn difficult it is to leave SHOPIFY!
LOOK AT ALL THE EMAILS SAYING THE SAME DAMN THING ABOUT IT! LOOK!
CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT MAY BE better idea and will ask my attorney his advice on this also.
