Need Help creating a new Facebook/Instagram store that's connected to Shopify Store

For some background, I’ve inherited my company’s Meta accounts which have a preexisting Facebook and Instagram shop, but they were not set up with Shopify. Now, I’m trying to create a new Facebook and Instagram shop that are connected to our company’s Shopify website. However, I’m having trouble doing so.

Firstly, I went to my Shopify page and connected our Shopify Product Catalog to Facebook and Instagram with no problem.

Then, if I click on “Start Setup” it shows this error message, telling me that I’ll need to disconnect my existing catalog to continue.

Fine. Then I go to Meta Commerce Manager, and can’t seem to find a way to disconnect my existing catalog from the Facebook and Instagram shop. (The exiting catalog was before my time and is not using Shopify integration).

In Meta Commerce Manager, after selecting my existing catalog and going to settings, it won’t let me disconnect the Sales channel, giving me this error message: “You cannot remove this sales channel because you must have at least one sales channel”.

Similarly, if I go under “Shops”, I don’t see an option to remove the shop, only “Edit Shop”

If I change the catalog to my Shopify Catalog in Meta Commerce Manager, then click on “Shops”, and select Shopify, it just sends me to Shopify’s website, so that doesn’t work.

Does anyone have any feedback or advice on how I should proceed? Long story short, I just want to remove my existing Facebook/Instagram Shop catalog, and then replace it with my Shopify catalog.

Setting up a new Facebook and Instagram shop connected to Shopify can be tricky when you’re transitioning from an existing standalone Meta shop. The main challenge is that Meta typically allows only one active shop per business account, so your old shop might be preventing the new Shopify-linked shop from being created.

To resolve this, you’ll first need to archive or remove the old shop in Meta’s Commerce Manager. Once that’s done, you can connect Shopify by going to the Facebook & Instagram sales channel in your Shopify admin and following the setup prompts. Make sure your Shopify store meets Meta’s requirements, like having a checkout and policies in place.

If you run into issues like errors with your Facebook Page, catalog syncing, or permissions it’s often due to lingering settings from the old shop. I’d be happy to help troubleshoot further if you can share where exactly you’re getting stuck. Just let me know what step isn’t working, and we can figure it out together.
