Paypal redirection causes wrong attribution on Google Analytics

Hi!

I am experiencing a problem that is causing a lot of wrong attributions on Google Analytics, as all the transactions affected are marked as “direct” instead of getting the right sources.

As you can see in the sketch below, when the users select Paypal Express checkout in the first screen of the checkout and then complete the order, the URL of the thank you page DOES NOT show the initial domain url (checkout.cubbit.io) but the shopify.com one.

As the 2 domains are not the same, this redirect does not allow Google Analytics to track the conversion properly.

Can you help me solve this problem please?
