I have many customers travelling from the US to Canada for an event pre-purchasing merch, I have always had them select “Pickup in store”. Before, the location would show right away, but now it says “There are no pickup locations available”. The only way for them to check out is to change their location to Canada. Is there a way that I can bypass this new step and have them see the available stores as soon as they click “Pickup in store” regardless of their location?
Topic summary
Shopify merchants are experiencing a critical checkout issue affecting international customers attempting to use “Pickup in Store” options.
The Problem:
- Customers browsing from outside the store’s country (e.g., US customers shopping Canadian stores) see “no pickup locations available” messages
- The “Pay Now” button becomes disabled for users with foreign IP addresses
- Previously, pickup locations displayed immediately regardless of customer location
Current Status:
- Multiple merchants confirm experiencing identical issues
- The problem appears to stem from a recent Shopify platform change
- A related discussion thread exists with more affected users
- Shopify has not yet prioritized this as a bug requiring immediate attention
Workaround:
Customers must manually change their location settings to the store’s country to complete checkout.
Impact:
This particularly affects businesses serving travelers or customers purchasing items for pickup in different countries. Merchants are calling for collective bug reports to escalate the issue with Shopify support.
I have the same issue with any customers outside of the US. They are unable to purchase product, as the “Pay Now” button is disabled if their IP address is outside the US. I’ve recreated the problem using a VPN in Australia, and the pay now feature does not work.
i have the same issue, have you fixed this?
Shopify seems to have changed something recently which causes this problem. Here is a larger thread on the issue: https://community.shopify.com/c/payments-shipping-and/pickup-location-outside-of-buyers-country/td-p/2777705
We need to report the issue to Shopify so they can fix it. Right now they don’t sees= it as a priority
