Hello, I need help fixing a problem. I am using a third part app, Product Option Variant Option. I set prices for each variant on the app and I have a price listed on Shopifys site as well. One adding a product to the cart the price doubles or is more than it should be. How can I fix this?
Do you have a screenshot or screen recording that shows the difference in pricing, once you add the product to cart?
As an example, I added the ‘Build your own unit’ product onto cart, and the price on the product page is the same as the price that I see when I navigate to the cart page. You can check out the screen recording of my testing here.
Because you’re using a third-party app however, have you reached out to the app support team to see if they can look into this matter further? While our Shopify staff are able to lend a helping hand, our scope of support can be quite limited when it comes to third-party apps. As the Product Option app support team are best equipped to troubleshoot the issues you’re experiencing, I recommend reaching out to them too if you haven’t already done so.
Thanks for sharing those screenshots from your Shopify admin.
It looks like this is how the app is meant to function rather than an issue of its functionalities. A lot of variant option apps tend to allow you to set a base product price (which you input via the Shopify admin’s product page) and to then use the app’s functionalities to add extra costs for any additional customisation to the product.
A common example of this is a prescription glasses store. They would normally set a base price for their glasses, and anything extra the customer would like to add on (like their prescription, or any tints to the glasses for example) can be added on for an extra cost.
To confirm, is this the app that you’re using? If so, have you reached out to their support team? If you haven’t already done so, I recommend speaking directly with their team so that you can confirm the app’s functionalities. You can also present them with your situation to see if they can provide a workaround for your case.
In saying this, I’ve since visited your product page again and can see that the ‘Build your own unit’ products don’t have the price available on the page if no variant or add-on has been selected. I think this is a really great workaround and one that works well!
