Product Variant App not displaying in Customer Order History

Topic summary

A merchant is experiencing an issue where product variants created through a third-party app (providing 600 product options) are not appearing in customer order histories or available for reporting. This causes problems when customers want to reorder but can’t remember their selections and haven’t saved confirmation emails.

Key Points:

  • The app itself functions well for displaying options at checkout
  • Variant data does appear in order confirmation emails
  • The data is missing from: customer account order history and backend reporting/metrics
  • The merchant is awaiting Shopify’s native 2000 product options feature (announced late 2023)

Suggested Solution:
Contact the app provider directly, as they should be able to enable product options to display in order history. This appears to be a configuration issue with the specific app rather than a platform limitation.

I am anxiously awaiting the Shopify native 2000 product options announced in late 2023. I am currently using an app to give me access to 600 product options I use for some products on my website. They work almost perfectly. My biggest peeve is that when my customers order those products where I have 600 product options (using the app), those product options do not get stored in their order history (nor are they available for reporting and metrics). So I get questioned by customers who can’t remember what they ordered and didn’t save their order confirmation emails that contain the chosen variants because they want to reorder those options.

Are there any apps that can make those product options available in order histories and reporting?

Hi @wikkidchik

The app provider should be able to enable the product options you created in the order history. I suggest to contact the app provider
